Shout out to PSU-Altoona for the use of their facilities for a few of our home games while our gym gets a remodel.

I hope they're knocking out a wall or 2 and making it bigger seating capacity.  After last years playoff game there I wondered how a 3A school could have a gym the size of Ferndale's matchbox.

Not gonna happen. I personally enjoy the atmosphere of the small packed gym during a big game. [emoji6]

Forest Hills did not have a very big gym all that long ago.

And that gym was built in the early 60's.  Now we have a new bigger one.  What are you trying to say?  I'm saying if you have construction going on, why not use the opportunity for improvements all around including increase seating.  Have YOU ever been to Martinsburg?  You'd feel right at home there, it's about the same size as Osborne or even smaller.

You wondered how a AAA school had such a small gym, when Forest Hills had the same small gym 2 years ago. That's what I was trying to say. It's hard to knock a school for having a tiny gym when Forest Hills probably had the smallest gym in the conference for years.

But then again, I don't find small gyms to be a bad thing. I've never been to Ferndale, but I've heard stories. But I think McCort's gym is awesome. Great homecourt advantage and best atmosphere in the LHAC.  The student section fits in perfectly, the box that sits above the gym is also really nice too since it was renovated.

FH has only been 3A for the past decade or so. When it was built it was 2 A. I give your gym its points, but the scorers' area isn't one of them. I also don't care for any place that lets the homeys behind the one basket. From the home view it's great, but how much more of an advantage does BMCHS really need?

Kind of a dumb question.  Duke already has the best team, why do they need the best student section? “Cameron Crazies, take a seat when Boston College comes to town.”

Anyway, it’s not my gym. It’s McCort’s gym. But I don’t think those seats were put in so much to make it a giant advantage, just needed the extra seating. The school is boxed in so there’s no way to expand it. That was the easiest way to get some extra seating in the place.

I will say the conference has stepped up lately, there are a lot better gyms than there were 10-15 years ago.

Johnstown’s is nice, especially since they redid the floor 2 years ago.

Richland’s has always been very good, and it also redid the floor recently.

Forest Hills and Westmont have nice brand-new gyms.

Central Cambria put some work into theirs. I’ve always thought Bishop Carroll was solid, the new bleachers help.

Penn Cambria and McCort are both small but have new floors.

So it seems some schools are trying to keep up with the times.

Is it the gym that gives McCort a home court advantage, or the fact that they 'hire' McCort parents to ref the games?
