Re: What a Failure (USA Mens Basketball)
Well, the USA lost and I am not surprised. As a Temple basketball fan, I enjoyed watching Pepe Sanchez play well. He was interviewed after the game and basically summed up the US problem. He said that the US had the best players in the tournament but basketball is a team game, 5 v 5, not 1 v 1. Sanchez was the ultimate team player at Temple, winning the A-10 player of the year while only averaging about 6 ppg.
George Karl and Greg Anthony basically agreed on Sportscenter that the US men did not play well as a team. They basically blamed the NBA and said that the International game is a better, faster-paced game with less slow-down 1 v 1 play. It was obvious watching the game that Argentina was more prepared and was more of a team than our boys.

They got the bronze. AHAHAHa what a joke. They may as well lost out. Of course, they didn't have the team they could have easily won the gold with. Why not play the Rookies of the Year not officialy but in my mind the Rookies of the Year Lebron James and Melo. They pretty much benched them because Larry Brown coaches the Pistons and doesn't really care about Olympic GOld.. Shawn Marion a starter?? Come on. Tim Duncan is a wuss, Iverson is the only heart on teh whole team and he can barely make 10 shots a game. They could have won it all with a star team, but guess what Kobe and Shaq will never play 2gether again and that's a fact. 2 much ego like Barry Crawford.. Playing players who won't win. I hope in 4 yrs they can figure out that unless the games r in America 4get the GOLD!
