Eeek, Moldy. And Coach is absolutely right, they threw him short-range passes and he took off. That's why Orton's numbers looked so impressive. That Purdue team last year was terribly over-rated and then that was proved correct.
Timmy Chang was also cut by the Arizona Cardinals. They kept Josh McCown and John Navarre ahead of him. I don't understand it either.

Re: Penn State vs Pitt/WVU
Stubblefield was the NCAA all-time leader in receptions. That has nothing to do with yardage after the catch. And your telling me he was the all-time reception leader on 3-5 yard catches? Then for 4 years, why didn't opposing Big Ten coaches stop it? What really does that say for a conference when a guy like this, a guy going down in the NCAA history books, is cut right away? And by the Carolina Panthers of all teams. If any team could use receiving help, it's them.

Do they drug you down at the Brethren church or what? Carolina has one of the best receiving corps in the NFL!
Hey, Mike Larkin is in the Arena League right now. He has the NCAA career record for catches in consecutive games. Larkin has blazing speed but he is 3'6". Those records don't mean anything once the season is over, unless you're a fan.

Catches in consecutive games? What does that mean? Against Indiana and Illinois? I'm talking about a 4 year career in a supposedly tough conference. Couldn't even make the scout team as a receiver. WOW!!

Taylor Stubblefield's release from a pro team is the definitive evidence that the Big Ten sucks!
Re: Penn State vs Pitt/WVU
A few observations and opinions on Mr. Stubblefield,
1. To me, I believe that he was the best receiver ever when it came to running a route one yard short of the first down line on third down. It was amazing how many times he came up a yard short.
2. When Stubblefield went back for punt returns, usually for the fair catch.
3. During his time at Purdue, didn't really work hard enough in the weight room to gain weight. He actually didn't gain any weight at all during his time here because he didn't really want to, against what Tiller thought he needed. Without the added size, Stubblefield was banged up a lot, slowing him down even more for some games.
4. He never really came up with too many clutch passes. Again, Purdue always seems to lose the close ones and Stubblefield had at least one chance in a few of those games to make the game winning catch, but didn't.
5. Also, during his tenure at Purdue, screwed around at a pool, and fell off of a fence and broke his head, causing him to miss part of the season.
To be fair, the talent had to be there to catch all of those passes, but he too was in a pass happy offense that until last year really tried to use the short passing game to control games, where his possesion type receiving skills were badly needed (Purdue went downfield a little more last year with more team speed at WR position).
Again, not sure if the talent level was there to be an NFL type receiver, but he really didn't take complete advantage of his time at Purdue to be as ready as he could have been.

Kyle Orton is going to start for the Bears. He must have been the best QB in the draft.
I would try harder, but I don't care that much. Just making a point.

Orton does not start if the regular guy is not hurt. Try harder.
