Lol i dont see mount union doing very well without that stand out quaterback Keith Ryan not getting to start. He is basically the heart n soul of the whole team. Without him getting the go to start the chances of the Mount Union team winning is very slim with the unexpericened quaterback they have in now.

They've played rather well thus far with Jimmy Smith at the helm, so I might beg to differ.

Smith is OVERRATED!!!! Roadcap will be the starting QB in 2 yrs. Smith has an average arm, and below average QB instincts. The ONLY reason MU won is because of Walters & Hicks.

With all do respect mucoach, the coach we have at MU now that does coaches several sports is still looking for a winning season, a.k.a Joe Komir. He had to come to the baseball team to get some hardware. Pick a sport and devote your time to it. Jimmy Smith is a fine quarterback, first one we had throw for a 100yrds since Stefan Morgan. And he graduated what three or four years ago? In two years Smith will be a senior with two full years under his belt, thats all he'll need to dominate!

All this talk about how Jimmy will not be a great QB and how someone else could do a better job is crazy. The kid is a sophomore going up against kids much older and more experienced and holding his own and continuing to get better every week. AND as for MU not winning if it were not for Hicks and Walters is ridiculous. Have you ever watched a football game where two guys could win on their own? I do agree that they are excellent football players but they can not do it alone.

Jimmy Smith is going to remain quarterback for the rest of his high school career. I doubted him when i learned that he was going to be the starting quarterback, but he proved me wrong. For this being his first season at the varsity level at quarterback, he is doing a great job. Roadcap is not going to come up and take Jimmy's position. Roadcap was the 3rd string QB last year for jr. high behind Jimmy and Shawn Dixon. Once Smith gets this year under his belt, he is going to do great the next 2 years under center, and the 2nd year he might lead his team right into the districts. Look for Mount Union to have a strong football team the next couple of years. GOOD LUCK TO THE TROJAN TEAM THIS YEAR AND KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!!

What are you talking about Ole Trojan???? Who brought Joe Komir into this? If you're refering to me as Komir then you're sorrily mistaken..... Anyways, I think that if Smith is the QB for the rest of his high school career then he'll probably be decent when he's a senior. You people are making him out to be some kind of all-american stud QB, and he's not and he never will be. He'll be average at best. I give him all the credit though for playing hard and playing to the fullest that his athletic ability allows.

I don't think any of you should put down Smith or Komir. You people are not scouts, nor are you professionals, nor are you in any position to judge these people. Everyone has the right to their own opinions and beliefs, but i dont see how you can say Smith will suck or that he'll be great. None of us know either way how he'll be. We should take his performance one game at a time and comment on how he performed then, not judge him on what he will or won't be 2 yrs from now. And as for Komir, I don't see how you (Ole Trojan) can judge him on by what he has succeeded at in coaching. I think that for all the more athletic talent MU sports has compared to other areas, Komir has done rather well as a coach. He always has competitive basketball teams. I think this is the problem with MU fans (the majority at least), its all about winning and loosing. When we win the fans rub it in the opponents face and when we loost we call them cheaters. MU fans are always looking to point the finger so that their kids aren't at fault. MU sports should be about our kids learning about teamwork, how to be diciplined, how to work hard, how to make friends, and to have fun. They are just kids, not professionals. They are to play to have fun, not make money. I think all of our athletes should be commended no matter how good they are, because at least they are going out and trying to win for us, and I think that is all that we can ask of them.

that upset me that someone would bring a guy like Joe Komir into this discussion....it's bad enough that you want to rag on the athletes (HS, not pro)....but then, to bring in a coach who spends his time trying to help individuals become student/athletes, when that has nothing to do with the topic? Wow....

I don't know Jimmy Smith as a football player, but I trust Coach Hummel to put his best people in positions for the team to have a chance for success....and I do know Joe Komir, and I can't understand anyone trying to trash his efforts to spend his time in multiple sports and seasons in trying to make a difference....

as I say, it's certainly easy from the sidelines....those that try to make a difference are usually better than those that sit and criticize.....

Now I was not trying to bust on Komir. I have played for Komir and have respect for everything that he has done for our schools program. We need more people to focus on one sport and spend time with that. Such as mucoach. Thats all I was saying.

just a question? by more people in one sport, do you mean coaches or players? if coaches do that, you'll soon have too few coaches....if players do that in a small school, you'll soon have too few players.....

involvement in a small school in multiple sports is necessary.....

personally, I want good coaches, no matter how many sports they coach....I want athletes out for multiple sports....I know the trend is for specialization, but I still have hope that people can be good at more than one thing.....
