The Pens will always be players at the trade deadline year in and year out. They've locked up their core players and from what they showed last year, they have no qualms about getting rid of role players to get a big name or two by the deadline. I'd expect something big from them this year.

Nice to see Letang getting going with his scoring. It is never good when your an offensive defenseman and have 1 goal at the all-star break. Pens need 10 goals or so out of him in the second half.

4-3 loss in overtime. The Pens looked good having the lead for most of the game. That little bug just came around again that stopped them from closing it out. Doesnt help that they let the Devils score with 30 seconds left in the game either. That should have been prevented, just like many times throughout the season.

Being a hockey fan all of my life and also a former player. there are little problems (past and present) that have effected this team.
#1 Goaltending, as many of us tend to forget marc andre fleury last year was hurt a good portion of the season making ty conklin the starter in which he was one of the reasons we made it to the playoffs. We also forget that fleury didnt play great at the beginning of last year but he did play good in the post season. This year we have below average goaltending and lost ty conklin.
#2 Defense injurys this year there have been alot of injurys on defense (no Gonchar) and minor league call ups never good for a one night game

#3 Not signing malone, hossa, roberts, and ruutu is another big reason why we are struggling Malone was the man who would make his leaving in front of the net and he would defend and fight anyone. same with gary roberts. losing ruutu was bad to because he is probably the second most hated player in the nhl and when he is on the ice he brings a diffrent style of play on the ice. And as for hossa we could have really used him for scoring goals this year another reason why we cant win. crosby and malkin cant do it all.

huge come from behind win tonight against the Lightning. Down 3-0 in the third and still getting 2 points out of the night might be what it takes to get the Pen's on a little streak here.

A come from behind win is good, but let's not get too excited. It was only Tampa Bay.

Penguins could trade Whitney

The Pittsburgh Penguins are actively shopping for a top-line sniper and appear willing to part with a significant defensive asset.

Outside of Penguins center Jordan Staal being dangled as trade bait, Pittsburgh GM Ray Shero is considering moving defenseman Ryan Whitney is he can get his hands on a legitimate first-line forward who is signed to a multi-year contract.

The Penguins have been searching for a scoring winger to slot alongside Sidney Crosby all season, but have some up empty.

According to various reports, the Pens are interested in Tampa Bay's Martin St. Louis, Colorado's Milan Hejduk and Toronto's Nik Antropov.

While Shero may be willing to move Whitney for the right deal, he's also in no rush to pull the trigger, and sources suggest he'd prefer to keep Whitney and move Staal, instead.

Man, i do not wish to move RW; I think he is a top flight defenseman in progress!

I'd move either of the younger defenseman & or young forwards & a draft pick!

Who would I pursue you ask? C Neal from Ottawa, Guerin or Weight from NYI or Keith Tkachuk from the Blues!

Ray Shero will do what ever it takes to g2 the stanley cup again..He proved this last year when he traded fan favorite Colby Armstrong for a rentaplayer Hossa dont be supprised if this happens again. personally i wish we could get roberto luongo but that will never happen.

Quick question after todays game...

Will the Pens make the playoffs? According to the standings they have 57 points, and Carolina has 59 taking the 8th spot. Pittsburgh is in 10th. My hopes running out. I really thought they could have pulled that off today, but they really cant hang with the best this year. If they do make it, its gonna be close. Im hoping they do, but somethings telling me they arent..
