There is a big District 6 meeting in Altoona tonight. It is the mandatory D6 meeting. I'm sure things will be discussed there. I'll bet one thing. CH will NOT be going to the Heritage. Take it to the bank

thanz constanza, I forgot this is the rotation year, Head Roadie is right about Blairsville-Saltsburg, they may just just wait it out, Bliarsville-Saltsburg voted 5-4 a few months ago to study a complete athelic merger.

too many d6 schools want no part of going to section by classification a la the wpial. i remember that the last meeting about it several months ago bellwood and another school or two spoke vehemently against it. and the vote wasnt close something like 25-9 against
heritage would be fine in other sports but football creates the problem. it will be interesting to see what they do.
ch is always brought up but school has said they do not want to move. with blairsville-saltsburg possibly merging soon, blacklick seems a little small to make the move. after all, they were one of the schools wanting to go to d5 to compete with other smaller schools. people have always brought up west shamokin but cant see that since they are a part od armstong sd, which has other schools in wpial. know nothing about apollo ridge possible interest. conemaugh valley would fit geographically but they seem to have good rivalries and set up in westpac

Does anyone know - in football, are teams allowed to play each other twice in the regular season? If so, that might provide a fallback position to fill out schedules.

you may play twice but only get pionts once, Ligonier looked into this as a possible 10th game vs. Laurel Valley last year. the game they found with North star was the best solution for all schools involved including North Star (a victory over Ligonier had the potential to put them in the D-5 AA playoffs if some one else that I forget lost)

p.s. on the fall back of playing twice really wouldn't work since only one team not two will have open weeks unless someone foreits to Ligonier on the same week

Thanks for the info, cleaverstuart. You are right. This would only be of value to salvage a 10th game (Class AA) and even then for no points. I didn't think about the fallacy of trying to do it in the regular conference season schedule where it wouldn't work.
I guess that assuming there is only one LV this fall, either the Heritage recruits a 10th school or all the teams will be scrambling for an opponent on the week they had one of the original LV's. And LV will be scrambling for a 10th opponent again as a AA team again.
I would assume that the District, not the conference, would have to approve granting a forfeit win to the Heritage schools that cannot find a 9th opponent. Do you think District 6 will give forfeit victories that earns them playoff points? The non-Heritage District 6 Class A teams might object to that.

I think laurel valley not fielding a team will be announced too early for teams to take a forfeit win for that game. Even if schedule was already in place, if there is no Laurel Valley it will be set before the season, not during the season. To me, it would make more sense for that game date to become open. If the school doesn't fill it, then nothing would happen to their record (like a bye week). All teams in basketball, baseball, etc do not play the maximum amount of games. Is there some rule in football that says you have to in piaa? Just my opinion. Haven't heard anything official.
