Again, what is your axe to grind? If a kid wants to play at the next level he should work on his game. If he finds a school that is interested in him they can help get him there. It happens all of the time. I know of many other examples I didn't list where baseball kids get $22K right off the bat to go to one of the local $40k private schools. I listed football because the kid didn't exactly tear it up in the classroom and he still got the bulk paid via awards. The smarter the student, the better the chances of academic awards. But if a kid can't play, he isn't going to make a team or get any "special" help.

Moldo, I am going to assume that the parents pay/borrow the rest.

So after a whole season of baseball this team is in the semi-finals of their league play-offs. Things are looking good until the ace pitcher tires-out in the third inning. Apparently he pitched in some random travel tournament that morning. Now why would the travel coach use a kid to pitch knowing that he had a play-off game that night??? Because the boss really wanted to beat this particular team. So much for this being all for the kids.

I hope they are going to add a surgery wing to this new complex, they're ruining these kids arms.

So the question is do you throw your arm out for the local rec league team that your parents paid $40 and sold a few raffle tickets and pizzas for you to compete in or the travel team that your parents paid considerably more for you to compete in?

If junior's arm is hurting now how will he survive two or three more travel tournaments, a month or more of all star tournaments and then fall ball?

I'm surprised that the parents would let the kid throw both games. Makes me think no one is looking-out for the good of the kid. The Rec league at least has pitch counts. But if they're throwing in travel tournaments also, so much for protecting the kid.

Are you asking a hypothetical question, or did you see this happen?

Legion league, one example. The Richland pitcher threw 11 innings on a Friday, and lost, and less than 48 hrs. later on Sunday, threw the first 6 innings of a DH against St. Michael.
It ain't over until it's over.

first off that is just plain wrong... 2nd it is illegal ... as soon as he threw the first pitch in 2nd inning of St. michael game... he became an illegal pitcher. Rule is 4 appearances and/or 12 innings in a 3 day calendar period.

I forgot you know everything. I read the paper, it listed pitcher X as the only pitcher for that game, it was on a Friday, and less than 2 days later, he throws 6 against St.M. A mistake, possibly. But everyone knows the Trib doesn't make mistakes. =))

Good to see the concrete trucks lined up on the 4th of July, pouring cement at the new complex! Now that is vision!! It would be good to see a collegiate wooden bat league or even the New York-Penn League up there too. I spoke to the President of the New York-Penn League (Ben Hayes)727.289.7112, he stated his league has been after the Johnstown area for years!
Once again, the stubborn city government leaders with NO VISION!!!
