Boo hoo boo hoo, I know everyone hates Ridge because they "suck", you make a lot of sense. Usually people don't like the teams that do really good every year but I completely understand why people have a problem with a team that is not a power house. So you are right, why do you care that Ridge "sucks"? Since we don't do very well lets just bash us for craps and giggles.

Why where they the ONLY team to opt out of the all sports idea?

I only saw ONE team jump ship. Was that the real reason, or just an excuse to get some wins for your program?

Of course some Bedford cronies opposed it. Heck, going to an all LHAC schedule means you won't be playing cupcake D-5 teams anymore so you are going to endure losing seasons. Something that Bedford was never accustomed to doing since they are the big bully of Bedford County.

Luckily Bedford did the right thing and joined the conference where the average school size is a mid AA team. Just like they are.

If Bedford joined the ICC, they may have never lost a regular season game in the history of their athletic program.

Thanks BossHoax for trying to write the History lesson based on what the country writing the lesson wants people to know. This lesson however was not a HOAX lesson, this is the lesson based on what the rest of the D-6 witnessed you do.

Thats ok OPINIONGIRL and D-NUTS your intitled to your opinions but its pretty convienant that you stayed away from the wrestling point, but you D6 pinheads will believe what ever you want to. There must be a Bulls Creek in every D6 school district. Good Bye.

I don't pretend to know why Ridge left the LHAC. I can tell you why some in Bedford thought it was a bad idea. For starters, in most sports we lost our rivalry games. It was exciting to go to the Bedford/Everett/Ridge/NBC/Tussey games. It meant something. Most people could care less about a Bedford/CH/BC/etc game in most sports. And the teams must travel long distances over the mountain for the majority of their away games.

The argument for joining the LHAC was that it would make our athletic programs stronger. It's been 10 years now, and can someone please give me an example of where this is true? I have yet to see it in any sport.

Well this is my opinion on the Bedford thing Analyst. Bedford in Football only played CR from the county, staying in the LHAC hasn't made them better it has kept them from getting worse. We have always played a tuff schedule. If we played these smaller schools our record would be better but the team would not be. Look at CR as an example. I feel the best teams they had were some from the mid 90's, when they played in the LHAC. Their records weren't as good as they are today but the teams then were better than now.

As far as the other sports. Bedford played alot of the LHAC teams anyway. They still play the county teams in tourney's and I think a few in regular season play. I really don't think it has made a huge difference for Bedford. The LHAC is very tough in B-ball and that has never been Bedfords thing. Bedford is a wrestling and Football school historically and they do well in the LHAC in both of those.

i'm mostly just being a jagoff, but with all due respect I am a w.p.i.a.l guy. born and raised, just happened to reside in beautiful bedford county,pa for a decade of my most delightful life. so even d-6 is weak compared to the world renown wpial baby!!!!! but keep on believing and maybe on day you will be a recognizable force in this big ol world.

Local rivalries are nice but not when you are twice the size as the school district you are playing.

When Forest Hills joined the LHAC we lost our #1 rivalry with Portage. We still play them in basketball, baseball, and other sports...but no one cares. Because this is a FOOTBALL area. If you have one sport you want to be good at in the State of Pennsylvania...it is FOOTBALL. Because 1) it generates the most money and 2) it is the most popular.

I did not discuss wrestling there HOAX because this is a football forum. I'm sure Ridge would do fine in the LHAC in wrestling. Just like I honestly believe they'd do fine in football if you people would stop making excuses and make some changes.

The all sport excuse is B.S..

The Analyst,

Bedford has grown in many areas of their sports since the move to the LHAC for everything. The golf team at Bedford showed they could compete and dominate on a bigger stage in the LHAC. Tennis has had several district champions since joining.

Basketball finally took off last year with T. Harris and Shane Fox in their senior seasons on the floor. They won their first D-5AA basketball title in what, like 13 years or something like that. The baseball program at Bedford was strong last year and will be even tougher this year. They finished 2nd to Everett after Dan Patterson took a line drive off his hand and broke it in the championship game. Multiple times last year they played with 6 sophomores in the line-up. This team has scarry potential this year. Bedford has won its section in football the last 2 years now and was the overall champion in 2004. That hasn't, in turn, caused wins in the playoffs, as they are still looking for one since the 2002 season, but they are playing tougher and tougher year after year and are finally learning the work ethic it takes to be a powerhouse team in the LHAC.

As for the rivalry argument, the county ones were nice, but the ones they have with certain teams in the LHAC now are just as heated as the old county ones BACK IN THE DAY. Bedford and Central Cambria has become what Bedford and Ridge was when they played in football(except Central Cambria is decent and they manage to beat us on occasion). And you'll also never see a more heated game than any time Bedford and Forest Hills match up. In ANY sport. Basketball, baseball(this one is gonna be real good this year), and football(large crowds no matter where the games at). Central Cambria is reaching that with Bedford as is McCort. The only problem with that is McCort isn't in Bedfords section in the LHAC, so they'll only play them one time in basketball every year, once in baseball and for 4 years, they'll cycle off the schedule. Next year is the last time you'll see a Bedford vs. McCort match-up in the regular season for 4 years. The rivalries. The travel distance was a problem at the begining, but now it's almost like it's not even an issue. Creatures of habit. Once you get used to it, there's nothing to it.

and I would like to find 5 people on here who really care about the "all mighty" WPIAL D-nice. If you love it so much stay there and leave us alone. I doubt that anyone on here cares if you think we're a bunch of dumb hicks. At least we don't have to worry about some hoodlum shooting a cop at a traffic stop. Ever area in the country has it's problems. The WPIAL SHOULD be better then the smaller districts. There pull of kids is much greater and yes i know they are still AA and the same size of school, but just look at the sizes of the teams they field. 60 players?? I know Bedford is lucky to get 35 who stick it out.
