McCort starts their teachers around $17,000 a year. How could they possibly attract the best teachers to give a good education? I always here about how a private school education is better; how can that possilby be? Instead of attracting the brightest teachers, they have to be attracting the new college grads that just skated by.
I'm tired of hearing that students transfer to McCort for a better education. If a student wants to go to McCort for a Catholic education, I'm all for it. But spare me the notion that you get a better education at McCort.
You mentioned a 'choice'...
by your logic, it is reasonable for one to choose Westmont over McCort... Expanding on your logic, i would venture to guess that it would be reasonable (in your mighty opinion) for me to choose McCort over Westmont....
Still with me?
BUT-- according to you, it is completely unreasonable for someone to choose McCort over North Star or McCort over summerless-Somerset...
My question to you is where do you draw the boundary of reason? Jerome? Township? Would you be willing to agree on Winber?
My answer would be as far as another Catholic school was available; to say that it would be unreasonable for some one to attend McCort over Central Cambria would be .... get this .... reasonable...
Bark if you follow...
i do respect the decision that someone in the area makes when they choose westmont or mccort. even if it is mccort, i respect the decision, although as you can see, i'm not the biggest mccort supporter.
i think that if you live out of the mccort area and you want to go to mccort SOLELY because of the good, catholic education, go for it. if it means that much to you, more power to you that you believe in something that strongly. the problem that people have with this is when kids go to mccort just because of sports. they can say technically it's for a different reason, but it's obvious what the real reason is. and it'd be another thing if half the kids that went to mccort from out of the area were infact good catholic people, and that just isn't the case.

If they aren't good Catholic people, does that mean they are BAD Catholic people? Do they rob stores or something?

Under the current system...you are an IDIOT for not sending your kids to a Catholic School.
I'll use myself as an example. So I live in the Shade Area School District...I'm Catholic...and my kids do their homework and are athletic...why shouldn't I send my kids to BMHS?
Distance...26 minutes, closest Catholic School to my house.
Academics...Just as good. Here's a lesson for all of you HSers out there...do your homework, read your textbook, and teach yourself and you'll be the best teacher that you ever had.
Money...my wife and I have good jobs...plus Vman offered me a Sponsorship in a private message after he saw my son hoop it up at the Windber Community Building (Ballin!)
Athletics...DUH! I watched my boi Artrell make some plays yesterday...and his brother will be going DI too in a few months! Plus McCort will be defending AA champs next year in football.
Culture- Little more diversity on Osborne Street than there is in Central City!
I think the better question is...why wouldn't you want your child to go to Bishop McCort?

Oh yea...and I'm working on:
3 more families from Shade
1 Family from Shanksville
2 Families from Rockwood
1 Family from Somerset
4 Families from FH
1 family from Westmont
A family from Ligonier and 2 Families from United that I met through a relative.
Sounds like a solid core of Student/Athletes to help the Crimson Crushers to another 4 years of Varsity success to me!
