So McCort will get to renew the Windber rivalry that will be awesome atmosphere!

According to the McCort website, Windber owns the all-time record (24-8)...I'll look forward to McCort haking away at that record!

I was not aware mccort and windber had a long history when was the last game played? That would be a great rivalry as they both have had a great last decade! It is interesting that mccort has moved to A for this up coming cycle. Moldy is right in a sense to ask why not last cycle? But if they are projected to stay in class A couldnt that have been determined before this year or were the numbers skued by some big economic bomb in the johnstown school district? But in reality as countless mccort alums have said this is a different era for mccort football as in the past (prior to joining the LHAC) they have played very tough competition included the likes of sharon. The same could be said of Johnstown though...Their teams to me have been nothing but a disappointment in the LHAC being the largest team I would expect some titles or to at least compete with mccort, but they have not played good football realitive to their talent.

Could McCort have won a state title if they were single A the past 6 years?

01 That team went to the western final and lost to Washington (if not for 2 blocked punts for TDs with time running out before half they could have won that game) the eventual state champs. Granted BC also advnaced that far in single A...earlier in that year BC won 34-14...so I'd imagine a loss to BC in the playoffs
(Possible Title)

02 McCort advanced to face FH in the D6 championship and lost, that year BC made another long run and had beatin BM earlier in the season (No Title)

03 Lots of talen that never added up to much...went 6-4 on the season with a huge loss to BC 35-7? with the only score comming on a S. Lewis KO return.
(No Title)

04 Lewis (torn knee 2 weeks prior) & Cruz and Co. could have won A in my opinion - went down to the wire with a tyrone team who: Beat the WPIAL team 28-0, and lost to the eventual state runner-up (grove city) Should have beat BC in the regular season.
(Possible Title)

05 Solid McCort team with the infamous 25 seniors with half going on to play somewhere in college. Could have won D6 over FH. Lost to BC earlier in the year with BCs lone TD in regulation comming on a kickoff return by FORCEllini and a blocked PAT in OT sealed the loss for the crushers
(No Title - would beat BC round 2 with a far advancement in the playoffs)

06 Arguably the best McCort team in the 2000 era we all know the history...cruised through the year after a first game loss to Bedford and a close one in Sidman...Weather taking away the passing game which led to an old fashioned pound it out game....Wilmington sneaks away with a win
(Title - I know that these crushers could have advanced further in the AA with a Game of the Century comming against Jeanette - who i feel the crushers could have hung with)

07 In Progress...

If Windber is in District 5, and McCort in District 6, when would they meet, if ever, in the playoffs?

Where are of those teams single A in number? Also I believe mccort did move to single A for 2 years back when they had 'the Sheridans' and lose to BC both times...Anyone no of any other teams in the area that are on the cusp of A/AA I know aliquippa is an A team playing AA in sports also I believe bishop mcdevitt plays up 2 classes from AA.

Of course CC crushed Somerset, who beat both BG and Johnstown, who beat Bishop Carroll, who beat Westmont. By comparative score Westmont should be 55 points better than . . . themselves.
That's awesome, it made me laugh, thank you :)

Your right, i was thinking windber was in D6...considering its 5 minutes from richland...guess we wont get to see those rivalries...heck maybe with this 10th game thing they could?

and K of C..your right on with that...but it does take a team effort to win a ball game (and a little 'luck' when ur playing in big E)

So the Windber rivalry is out. But how about a renewal with Conemaugh Valley? The last time McCort played them it ended in a bench clearing brawl at Point Stadium. Or what about West Branch? The last time McCort played them, McCort fans actually came out of the bleachers onto the field during the game itself. WOW!!!

I have to agree with Portage Alum. Back a few years, prior to the LHAC, the estimated head count at the gate for a FH- Portage REGULAR season game was upwards of 4,000 fans, before the stadium upgrades of the past few years. I actually caught a couple of those games. Didn't matter the caliber of teams, or pre-season rankings, etc. They usually were pretty good battles. Other than maybe recent playoffs, I'd be curious as to the head count at any BM game. I've caught a few of them too, and the fan base compared to some other local teams is mediocre at best.
