Top of the morning everyone.

Foghorn, my posting of the Cmor's Altoona Mirror article was not to show Coach Bailey's sunny post game demeanor. The money quote in the article was the reference to a few touch calls going against them. Made me read the fine print in the box score and see the officials were all from Somerset county. Look at some of the other recent subject post and see how happy the Berlin fans are with the Bedford County crew.

WPIAL-Titan I don't think Bailey is the greatest X-O's coach around. Head-Roadie is better for one. He is a great motivator. He would run threw a fall for his players and expects no less from them.

Southpaw, you might know the answer to this. Did Mount Alyousius Head Coach Lance Loya coach high school anywhere?

Back to the officials, what if Saylor would have given Bailey a tech? For the rest of the game, Baily would have had to sit and not stand. I still have not had an answer to what triggered the outburst. What would make a coach in a tight game react in this manner. Bailey does have a hair trigger but he does not go off without a reason.

I believe loya coached at Salisbury hs. As for anything specific setting bailey off,I think the lack of response is due to just that...nothing in particular except the game itself. As for the refin crew, they've not been kind to shade so that arguments another bogus excuse to take spotlight off bailey. Here's an idea for anyone with a video of game..If u caught bailey's sideshow antics, post it on utube. Maybe then the powers at tm,d5, or PIAA will be forced to address the dirty little secret...oh that's right it's no secret, just accepted.

I would concur that Head Roadie is a solid coach in several sports...especially basketball, track, football. He's an affable and personable guy. I'd want him coaching my kids.

The best Xs and Os guy I have ever seen was the late Howie Ruppert (former Shaler Area HS and St. Peter's boys' coach, also an assistant at Seton Hall and DuquesneU and head men's coach at D3 College of Staten Island). H was an offensive genius, and had a full understanding of motion offense and its concepts (cutting, screening) better than anyone I have ever seen. He also understood how to play and attack the matchup zone better than any coach I have ever seen, mainly because he spent half of his D1 college coaching career preparing to face John Cheney's matchup at Temple and Boeheim's zone at Cuse. H was also the type of coach you loved to play for...competitive without being overbearing, and had the will to prepare to win...Howie took teams with minimal talent and made the competitive. His game preparation/scouting was the best I've ever seen as well. I saw H tell his players exactly where to be in a teams offensive sets, and he often had his players knowing what the other team was running and in passing lanes before the offensive player was there...He knew exactly what opponents were going to do, and if you had limited offensive package, or defensive weakenesses/matchup issues, he prepared to exploit those weaknesses/limitations that better than anyone. RIP, my friend!

Others who I know personally who are excellent coaches, in terms of knowing basketball and student-athletes, in no particular order:

Greg Downer, Lower Merion HS boys' head coach
John Sarandrea, former head boys coach at New Castle HS
Spencer Stefko, Chartiers Valley HS Girls' Coach
Gerry Quedenfeld, former head coach at Springfield-Delco and Coatesville Area HS
Paul Holzshu, former head coach at D2 West Liberty (WV) College and Gateway HS
Dave Roman, Greater Johnstown HS Head Boys' Coach
Brian Gaetano, head boys coach at Springdale HS and Pine-Richland HS
Bruce Frycklund, Penn Cambria HS boys and girls

Your right viking91. Tm WAS the runnerup and SHaDE was the champ in that game.whilt the shade boys were running their arses off in the heat at upj a grown man who is expected to set an example was shaking his package on the tm sidelines. That's why people care...it was a disgrace and the only way to stop that is to voice your disapproval.
Oh and as for the question If what shade's student section did to antagonize.the student section was behind shade's bench on the opposite side of the court.so now who else can u look to place blame on? Blame lies director at the feet of coach bailey

Lemmy, Don't quote me but I don't think Lance coached high school. The Loya at Salisbury is or was is brother Landon. Of course his father Jack is the head coach at North Star.

As for the actions of tm coach, the shade fans were almost as bad at the end of the game. When we were leaving the bleachers, adults sitting with their children were screaming "all you dumb a@@s go back to your po-dunk town." As if they really have any room to talk. Central City isn't any type of heaven.
Bailey is one of the best coaches on and off the court. I don't care what people have to say to him. Year after year he has kids lined up at his door so anxious to play for him. I don't always agree with what he does either. But without Bailey, tm doesn't have a team.....
So why don't all you ADULTS drop it!!!!! If it were your coach, you wouldn't care.

southpaw could be right....I just knew him as "Coach" Loya....which was different from the "Coach Loya" at North Star. Now that I think of it, there could be a third "Coach Loya". Phew!

No, that's where you are wrong. We would care if our coach did that. Something would be said to make sure it didn't happen again. Even if he is the "god" of the town..that's where TM differs from everyone else.

Did you ever think that maybe the reason kids are lining up to play bball for him is because he acts like a teenager on the court? If I was them, I'd be laughing at the fact that my coach can get away with shaking his junk at the opposing fans & now everyone is talking about it.

But honestly, if I was from TM(& thank god I'm not) there should be a line drawn with what is okay & what's not.

dr is clueless.

There is a method to his madness. I almost guarantee that this was the first dave bailey game you have ever attended. He knows what he's doing. Whenever you are up there being politically correct, Tussey is down in a little town of Saxton winning District Title after District Title.

Shade just won there first since what the 50's and they deserve all the credit in the world for that. Shade has the classiest (and one of the best around) AD in Paul Leonard and great basketball coaches in Andy Muha and Wade Fyock. Lets stop bitching about Dave Bailey and give some credit to this great Senior class that has just "broke the ice" and could be the first title of many for Fyock. Both of these teams are some of the best D-5 has produced in a long while and have the chance to win a few in the state tourney. Not to mention NBC is probably the best 3rd place team in a long while. Most years their squad would be good enough to win it.

This thread will not lead to any action against Bailey. I'm sure he doesn't give **** what everyone is saying on a free forum in bleachercoaches. He is preparing his kids to play a little over a week.

Swoosh, Saxton might not be anything special but some of the nicest people I know are from that town. Plus, you can thank Saxton for providing us with Nuclear Power :D . Betcha didn't know that.

I'm clueless? Read above for an earlier posting. Do you think I"m wrong that they'll be good next year, that they may win the D5 next year...that they may have a long winning streak next year....well, do ya?
