And we are NOT talking about whites toward blacks either. It's the reverse. In the NFL, EVERY team wanting to hire a new head coach MUST interview at least ONE minority candidate. Isn't that the Rozell rule?

In today's front page of the Tribune, the recent hirings of head football coaches at Texas and PSU have been termed "historic'. And why? Because these new head coaches are black. And leading the praise is none other than Doug Williams. Who he you ask?? Why of course, he's the first black QB to win a super bowl. Surely he knows of what he speaks, right? Ty Willingham, former black head coach at ND, Stanford and Washington, is extremely proud that it (the hiring) is an African-American, saying that this is "what the struggle is all about".
Hard to believe racism is still prevalent in this day and age.
I don't believe it is but you do not see African American head coaches as much in sports like football. So whenever that community is starting to progress in the coaching world its great for that community. It makes people proud.

No, it's the Rooney rule.

Not only was Doug Williams the first black QB to win a Super Bowl, he was the only black QB to win a Super Bowl.

How would you like to be the owner of the Houston Texans, and be TOLD that you had to interview a minority for the job of guiding your team into next season?

Seven coaches quit or were fired following the 06-07 season. Dennis Green and Art Shell were two of those coaches. The Steelers were the sixth team to hire a coach that year and the only team to hire a black coach. Russ Grimm was reported to have been hired prior to Mike Tomlin being hired. I suspect they were reminded of the Rooney Rule by someone.

What's that say about Rooney, who also thanked President Obama (before anyone else) AFTER the Steelers last Super Bowl win?

You should be able to hire and interview you want. Looks pretty bad when you know your gonna hire someone then have to call a minority basically just to fulfill a rule with a pointless interview...If you know what I mean....
