The band is playing too loud. The players can't hear!
Is that the next whine we'll hear from Football Hills?

It's early in a high school baseball game. Your team is up by 12. You have a guy on third with one out. You try a suicide squeeze. It's legal, but WHY do you do it? To practice it for later in the season? C'mon guys. You know where I'm coming from on this. Humble in victory. Kick the extra point and move on with the game. It's that simple.

IMO any coach that goes for 2 when leading by 33 should be question. Even the Steelers could protect a 34 pt lead. If your lead makes it to the mercy rule fine but do you really need the mercy rule?
33 points, 29 points, whats the difference? BOTH should have called off the dogs. And the Steelers? a 24 point lead against the BROWNIES, for GOD's sake, wasn't safe!

Yeah i the Steelers can't hold onto a lead, what's Somerset supposed to think? Forest Hills is regarded as one of the top 2-3 AA teams around, it's not like they were running it up on Ferndale or Conemaugh Valley.

If you are crying about a team going for two after scoring a touchdown in a high school football game and you are not playing in the game and do not have a kid on the team (and even if you do) you need to seriously evaluate your life. You have emotional issues and should seek professional help.

I think it's a fair topic to debate, since it comes up a lot all over the country. The point in this game is, it happened in the first half, and Forest Hills isn't a defenseless team, they were picked by a lot of people, including the coaches of the LHAC to be one of the top 4 teams. I've always been under the understanding, all is fair in the first half, unless the team is totally inept, which Forest Hills certainly is not. I expected the game to be much closer, but obviously Somerset is looking strong early on this season. Good for them.
I think the debate is relevant, because like I said it is talked about everywhere. For instance, some are flipping out on Clairton for winning 80 to nothing over Wilkinsburg. The Post Gazette blog post last night should put that debate to rest. Wilkinsburg has 17 players, Clairton has like 28. Clairton pulled their starting skilled position players in the second quarter, but the thing with that is that their star players are sophomores and juniors with seniors are backing them up. Do you tell the seniors that want to play they can't score? Do they take a knee? They have less than 30 players themselves, there is no third string. The Wilkinsburg coach said he had no problem, and the Clairton coach said he did everything he could short of taking knees. I'd imagine the Meyersdale-Ferndale 74-0 week one game probably went down a lot like this.
Two very different cases as you can see, and that should put things into perspective a little.

If your kicker is automatic maybe going for 2 is the way to call off the dogs? Or maybe they just want to work on their 2 point play for later in the year incase they need it? I don't think it's as bad as some on here think it is. It's not like Richland calling timeouts up 40 in the first half trying to score again.
After watching this game though Somerset is pretty impressive. up 21-0 even before FH lost their QB. They are going to be really tough for anyone in the LHAC to beat. I think they are the best team, I had FH at 3 going into last week.

Yes, if you still have your starting quarterback in in the fourth quarter throwing passes to the starting receivers and you are up 60 then you can be accused of running up the score. If you score in the third quarter to make it 55-6 and you then call for an onside kick then you can be accused of attempting to run up the score. Attempting a two point conversion should never be considered running up the score, especially against a program like Football Hills.
