Why is Westinghouse so bad? It is a Pittsburgh city school. How can Clairton be better than Westinghouse?
Tyrone and Altoona are separated by 3 exits. It's a stretch of highway. I go to school in Altoona and pass Tyrone every time I go home, it is not far maybe take me 5-10 minutes at the most. That's a suburb.

Tyrone on ramp to 17th street exit is 17 miles. Unless your going 125mph +., it's not 5-10 minutes.

Altoona only has BG, BA and Tyrone in its area, so not having so many school districts also is beneficial.

These farm schools isn't as bad as they are here out west! Most small school districts have 15-20 minutes between houses! Let alone 40+ to get to a school. Those conferences have 2 hr drives every away game

There is such a classification... NCAA (1A) FBS and (1AA) FCS.knowitall wrote:So should we have separate classifications for urban and rural schools?
Urban Catholic vs. rural catholic?
Predominantly white vs. predominantly black?
High test scores vs. low test scores?
Re: Portage vs. Bishop Guilfoyle D6 A Championship Thread
And by what you're trying to say Bishop Canevin and Serra Catholic are urban Catholic's that are the equivalent to a 3A rural Catholic.Stater32 wrote:animus wrote:But the statement was that small public schools can't compete against Catholic schools. Shouldn't North Catholic, Bishop Canevin, and Serra Catholic be even better than a Bishop Guilfoyle because they can "recruit" from a superior area than BG can. For example, Serra can nab kids from McKeesport, Duquesne, Thomas Jefferson, East Allegheny, West Mifflin. How is a Clairton supposed to compete against that? Oh yea, they do and thrive!Stater32 wrote:Stop comparing Clairton and other inter city public schools to D6 public schools. It's all about talent pool. If Portage or Bellwood or whoever was in the city they would be good too. Its all about talent pool. That's why Bellwood and Tyrone are good. Their talent pool is Altoona area, an urban area. You add that with coaching you are going to have success
You're not getting what I'm saying. Clairton can compete because their talent pool is the Pittsburgh area, an urban area. They are getting the same amount of talent as these Catholic schools because of their location. Now, BG location is an urban area, plus they can recuit talent in that area. Schools like, Portage, Mo valley, Juniata Valley, other A schools have no shot. Due to their talent pool and location area is rural, which doesn't have the talent pool of Clairton, and schools that are inter city schools, with amazing talent pool. That is what I'm saying. Stop comparing single A urban schools, to singe A rural area schools. Them single A urban area school's talent, are equivalent to rural area AAA school's talent.

Konjo, aren't there more farms in PA than Washington? Or did you mean west in general? You do have more volcanos. Be careful.
