I wasn't in Johnstown back in those glory days but I heard the stories IMO that's when Jtown was a thriving city we are on the decline in population Jtown is on the border of AAA/AAAA and from what I have seen the numbers coming up are not that strong. We have around 10 or more school districts in a 10mile radius lets combine and form a regional school all these districts are small in size.

So I will put my two cents in also of these 80 players that start camp how many do you think are actually there when the season starts maybe 60 then when school starts with grades and other issues now your down to maybe 50 of those 50 how many you think actually see starting time in some capacity 25. Not sure where all this big time talent you talk about is at ? All I'm saying is if we had a school that drew kids from Johnstown ,Richland, Westmont, Ferndale, CV, CT, and Forest Hills we would be a power house also.  We will just have to agree to disagree
You forgot Ligonier, North Star, Windber, Somerset.

Just to be clear because I see this on this board all the time and it is incorrect. No School has a boundary. If a student who lives in the Altoona school district wants to attend Tyrone, then can and have. They just have to pay tuition. The tuition is set by the state it's what the school is given from the state for each pupil. This has happened many times in D6 and across the state.

Guess you learn something new everyday doesn't happen much around here if any from one public school to another just curious why would a parent want to send I kid to a different public school and pay for school were everyone goes for free already ? sounds like a no brainer to me

I disagree.  BG would definitely be a contender in the WPIAL at AAA.  They would've beat Aliquippa last year for sure.  Central had the Quips beat with 4 minutes left in the game and BG was far better than Central.  Just saying.

I thought everyone knew that you could live in one public school district but pay to go to a different or neighboring district. Maybe some parent's want their kids to attend a better academic school, with a better library or nicer chemistry labs. Or for a "safer" environment. BUT, according to the PIAA, you are NOT ALLOWED to transfer for athletic reasons. Plain and simple.

FF4Life is mostly correct.
Tuition is set by the district, not the state.  Most schools will charge equal to their per pupil cost at the appropriate level (elem or secondary) from the previous school year.
Schools do not receive $$ from the state based on the number of students.  This has not been the case for over 20 years, which is why the new funding formula was just recently pushed.
For most districts in our area, tuition would be about $10,000 a year.  Thats a whole lot of money towards a college education, but .......

Anyway, BG will be very good and then the scramble will happen below them to determine the 2nd tier of the league in my opinion.

I mentioned those 4 because they -HAVE- had kids from there in the past decade or so.  Fact.

I agree with you and meatball. No question they would be in the hunt in wpial AAA this year if they had Mr. Chadborne.
