talk to anyone on the team and they will tell you wilkins is a horrible coach hands down.... our jr. high practices were harder and more structured than senior high practices. and its kinda hard when you get ankle surgery 3 weeks into the season to play football isnt it? and when did i ever say anything about me being a great wide receiver? never! so dont go putting words in my mouth just because you get mad at what i say. i really do like wilkins as a person but he just does not have the experience as a head coach... i think that he needs to work as an assistant somewhere and learn how things need to be done. i hear what the players say and when they need to tell their own coach that they need to run more at the end of practice.. that is pretty bad. so dont be getting all mad over this because you take it too personal. i dont make stuff up just to bash people i watch all the games and talk to the players and i respond with what i see and hear about the games. say what you want about the passing game but, when you have 2 or 3 wr's wide open every pass play and only one player usually gets the ball (who is covered) then the coaches need to step in and tell the qb to spread it out.
Wow, if 2 or 3 are 'wide open' every play, why don't you do one of a few things. Either A) throw the DARN ball all the time since the passing attack is so unstoppable B) Since you're so close to all the players, drop subtle hints to the QB every once and a while C) get better competition to play against.
I saw the WR reverse pass tonight on the news. That's a real cute play. I can only hope that the Lions try to run those trick plays when they face an LHAC team in the first round. If you need to know the result of that play, or style of play, the greatest example I can think of is Central. OUCH!

A victory is a victory. After the loss to Bellwood and all the subsequent public whining and whatnot, the Lions needed it. Plus there's the fact that NBC is a good team. And that's who we played this week, A or not.
Highlights? Props to the NBC defense throughout much of the game. Even though the Lions opened it up more and showed offensive strength, the Panthers forced a no gain or a loss on a significant number of CR plays. Their line is nice-sized, talented, and well-coached.
Ridge? Max, after a slow start, got hot and spread the love to a few more receivers -- Utz and O'Neal -- who showed they've been grossly underused all year. Their success should bode well for the future. Good hard running by Downey and Malone, and toward the end, Tomovich, next year's taillback-apparent. Malone especially was hard to bring down. (Anybody who thinks the Lions didn't miss him last week is crazy.)
The Lion defense played well despite some interesting wrinkles by NBC. Weber was held in check most of the night, though Crawford had a few nice runs. The secondary, aided by some upfront pressure on the QB, had at least three interceptions I remember -- Downey, Tomovich, and Herncane. The Ridge line played tough, stopping NBC at least twice on fourth-down tries that if successful might well have changed the tenor of the game.
Credit to Coach W. for the trick play at end of the first half which resulted in Tomovich throwing a scoring strike to Max K. This gave the Lions momentum going into the half, even though when Ridge received the ball to begin the third quarter, NBC responded with a stop. Coach Baker also made some good adjustments to the Lion defense.
It was a good game. Both teams, especially NBC in the first half, played conservative, field position football, as is the style of the respective coaches. Who knows what will happen in the playoffs -- but we do know that the defenses got them there.
Finally, the real hero of the evening, in my opinion, was the playing field, which held up beautifully under the rain. Let's face it, if the game had been in Fishertown, it would have been a mudfest, with a lot of players doing ice skater impressions.
I certainly wish NBC the best in the playoffs.. As usual, when I travel to Panther country, I find the whole shebang to be a class act.

You're being a little too smug there, Ham. Remember, not too long ago you weren't quite so cocky. In fact, you were rather critical of the Bison braintrust. But I guess they listened to you because it's probably not a stretch to say BHS is playing some of the best ball in the area, no matter what class you talk about.
Anyway, you know as well as I do that the video footage often makes things look slow and goofy. Just my opinion, but I bet even a few of the LH franchises would have had trouble with the play.
