i was in attendance at the ridge/portage came tonight...to start off portage fans did sit on the visitor side which isnt a big deal to me as long as they conduct themselves in a mature manner..which most of them did tonight...i thought it was a pretty well called game..except for a couple questionable calls..but thats high school football..ridge used there bread and butter running game and portage exploited ridge's lack of pass defense...i feel ridge dominated the first half but the second half they got a little sloppy and made a few mistakes in the 2nd half before they buckled down and finished tough...portage was better than i had expected..or ridge's pass defense wasnt as good as i previously thought..overall it was a good game but both teams need to make some big steps if they want to contend for a district title.

I can understand where you're coming from, and like i've stated thats Gouse being Gouse. He doesn't really have a great mind for the game, but thankfully his talent usually makes him shine better than he really is, and i'm a Portage Alum saying this. I know penalties go both ways and i take nothing away from CT, they won plain and simple, however i will say your big TD pass right at halftime In NO WAY SHAPE or FORM happen after the pass was thrown, i was standing right on the sideline where Stumpo was rolling and your FB #42 i believe his number was had to basically grab every piece of the mustang defenders jersey and then in turn tackle him to the ground to even give your QB a CHANCE at getting the ball off or he would have gotten sacked. Also another thing you failed to mention was the Ref's screwed up and gave CT another down after the penalty even though the half had ended, a half/quarter can't end on a DEFENSIVE penalty not offensive so their shouldn't have been and untimed down, thankfully no points were scored on that down lol But anyways thats old news, just was stateing. And as for Portage fans the ones on the visitors side are mostly non-player parents and fans that don't want to take up home seating for the current players parents. Are there bad apples that are gonna cause a rukus? Sure.....that saying don't let a few idiots on here or there ruin the Portage name as a whole. We are a Prideful town thats Passionate about Mustang football and Portage Sports in general.

Sparky, with districts 5 and 6 combining not combining all the time for playoffs it seems is D5 AA combined with D6 AA this year or no? Just was curious after you mention at the end of your post about district titles.

neither team will win a district championship. im not sure if either will even win a playoff game, portage because they never win come playoff time. and ridge simply because their district is insanely good

i have the video of what you are talking about and ran it in slow motion, the ball was coming out of stumpos hand as the f.b. was starting to pull him down. a good 10 yards away is why i said no bearing on the play had the f.b. moved out of the way i dont think he could have gotten within 5 yds when the ball was passed, but as i said a penalty none the lease, now, as for the penalty, by accepting it because if you didnt it would have been a t.d. rules state you must replay the down even if no time is what i was told, its not like the nfl where it cant end only on a defensive penalty is what i was told.. by accepting the penalty they had to replay it. and my beef is only with those bad apples, this isnt my first time there either, 2 years ago we lost and while leaving, your town i quess blows the siren when you win, and as we were leaving you had people lined up on the road going out of town by the bar, all standing outside yelling get the hell out of our town,, go home...just giving another personal example.

Brigade: I wasn't aware that the rules were different in H.S than in college and the NFL with the quarter/half ending on an offensive penalty, so fair enough. Now driving outta town past the bar i'm thinking of which probably most of the patron's were at the football game at some point in time probably didn't go very well i'm sure lol But i'm glad you're not letting a couple of idiots totally ruin our fans/town/schools name.

JackDaniel: I agree with you in my mind neither team will go far or maybe not win 1 game in the playoffs. Portage fails every year in the playoffs cause in the playoffs you actually have to rely on some COACHING and the mustangs might have 20 people standing on the sidelines as a "coach" but probably just 1 or 2 of them actually teach anything useful. As for Ridge, its gonna be tough to be in a classification with the likes of Forest Hills and Tyrone and expect to make a deep run, but i do wish them luck.

How ridiculous. This really doesn't surprise me. A few people have told me about the Portage fans. Maybe they'll snap out of it now having 2 loses? And Gouse with his excuses, Accept that your team lost and move on.

rather or not portage wins a playoff game will all depend one who the draw in the first round because i highly doubt they win two playoff games, and ridge if they win out and get the 3 seed i could see them winning one game but thats it in second round they'd then get tyrone or fh and i dont see anyway they defeat either of them
