Not exactly sure of this, so someone can correct me if I'm wrong. I believe that part of the process for a transfer being denied eligibility is that the school the athlete is transferring FROM protests the move based on athletic intent. If this is the case, it seems hypocritical for McCort to accept athletes transferring in from other schools, then become part of the process to deny a student-athlete eligibility when transferring FROM their school.

McCort did challenge the transfer based on what I have heard, so you are correct.

I don't have a problem with kids transferring. Say you play QB but you are in the same grade and school as someone who is all-state. You should be able to transfer rather it's for athletic intent or not. Like the kids from CTwp that bought a house and moved. There should be no way to stop a family from doing that. I don't even have a problem with kids paying to go to private or charter schools. The problem I have is schools having players from 6 different schools and playing with public schools with the same number of kids. I think if all private and charter schools played up 1 class it would be a much leveler playing field.

For the record, the varsity football team at McCort has two "transfers", one of which is an exchange student from China. I heard the Chinese High School did contest it, but the United States of America over turned the ruling. McCort going global, watch out everyone.

Perhaps that's why they are 0-3...

Nah. Parochial league isn't what it used to be. Parochial League has produced more NFL,D1, and All State players than 90% of the school districts in District 6.

For the record, I was not referencing how many transfers McCort has THIS year. Nor does it matter what language they speak. My point was simple.....McCort has welcomed numerous impact level transfers over the past 10-15 years, yet they are challenging a transfer that wants to leave their school for athletic intent.

bigben7: Since it looks like Hackenberg is going to be the PSU QB for the next 3 years, shouldn't Tyler Ferguson be allowed to transfer without punishment rather than sit on the bench for a couple of years? The NCAA does not allow transters to go unpunished, to keep balance among the teams. Otherwise kids would be moving everywhere whenever they want. The PIAA says explicitly that transferring between high school teams for athletic reasons is forbidden, for the same reasons as the NCAA. This is to prevent chaos within the athletic systems.

I disagree with your statement that the WPIAL deny's first then asks questions later.
Numerous times during the year the WPIAL is presented solid evidence from the school's AD or principal that their athlete transferred for athletic reasons. And numerous times the athlete and parent were very blatant and outspoken about their sons leaving the team for better athletic recognition. After the WPIAL denies the transfer, the parents get fed information by their attorney then change their story at the PIAA hearing. What's ridiculous is that nothing damaging said at the WPIAL hearing by the parents is allowed to be brought up at the PIAA hearing. Everything has to be discussed all over again as though there was no WPIAL hearing. In a nutshell, the parents go to the WPIAL hearing ignorantly mouthing off then become wise to lie at the PIAA hearing. Happens all the time.

Thanks for the insight. From what I have read the WPIAL is by far the most over zealous of all districts in PA and is actually at odds with the PIAA over their rulings. But I know nothing about this case and I am not in the know of all the inner workings.
