You might be surprised to hear that several of those schools you just mentioned are in favor of the 6 class prop as are a whole bunch more...I'll throw Pine-Richland out there also as I know they are in favor of it. 2 teams in a decade, you have to go all the way back to 1995 to find another 4A school with an enrollment under 1000 to find the next undersized champ (not counting schools that can "get other players"...them's awful odds. no it is not awful odds. How many schools with over a 1000 boys failed to win it also?
The fact is having 6 classes STILL won't bring PA up to speed with most other states our size. . If every other state stopped sponsoring football should PA follow suit? My point is that just because others do it does not make it right.
But let's expand, this isn't only for the larger schools, there are many very small schools that get pounded every year. Every year there's an exception to the rule when a team like BG puts together a monster team but even then the odds are against them. As for watering down the title, I hardly think it does that. You are still the best of 100 instead of 145 and will still have beaten the best your class has to offer.
i will again use Ohio as an example where the D7 champ destroyed the D6 & D5 champ during the regular season. If that is not watering it down I don't know what is.
I'm hearing this time the vote has a good chance at passing so either accept it or you may be in for disappointment.[/quote]
if it gets approved it gets approved and I will still follow, but that doesn't mean I won't think some classes are paper champs knowing they would not of one with the current better setup.
