I answered WITH BIAS????? I just said I'm not sure how it works, but gave my logical opinion on what happens when a kid goes BACK to a public school. And so (you may be wrong?) you're going to give me an example of ONE kid who moved back to his home district to play ball WHEN I GAVE YOU AN EXAMPLE OF AN ENTIRE STATE!!!!! And who's talking money here? And if parents CHOOSE to send their kids to private schools, so be it. Just don't ask me to help pay for it. 'Nuf said about that. Please, limit this conversation to FAIRNESS is sports and leave vouchers out of this.

Boy you really put private schools on the pedestal there!

El-Moldo wrote: When kids in private schools are discipline problems, or don't perform well academically, where do they get sent???? ...Where do these kids end up? Why, of course, back to their home district.

Sounds like we know where the kids with the discipline problems and poor academics end up...

This thread has gone way off topic, so I see no harm in continuing.

The best thing about certain catholic schools is when little Jimmy's mother says to the Principal, "It looks like (Incert public schoo name here) is going to get a new player next season if this scholarship doesn't increase."

As for Crimson09Crazy's comments about two of Westmont's players last year............
In that case, the precedent was set when their older siblings attended parochial school through eigth grade, then went to Westmont. They never attended McCort.

I don't have a real problem with kids attending McCort that have come up through the parochial system. They still have an unfair advantage, however, it is what it is. The problem lies when a "Pete O'Connor" suddenly transfers from North Star.

DWG: Don't understand your last comment. Isn't that what I already said? If kids IN private schools become discipline problems at that school, or if they don't live up to academic standards at that school, they can be dismissed and end up back into their home district. What's the problem?

Ok lets play a game.....WPIAL Titan,Dokken, and Moldy get to pick the boundaries to where BMHS can get kids.....soo give me the legit school districts from where McCort kids can come from.

johnstown westmont richland ferndale and valley for sure and id say widber and township is within reason considering those kids would attend st. andrews and bennies anyway.....Agree or disagree? do we draw the lines there? Sooo yes you are stating facts McCort may have a slight advantage because the kids live in areas all around jtown but still go to parochial schools anyway. There are very little surprises...Answer me this....How many starters from the district 6 champion football team went to a public school for grade school?

I know the answer. dsoes anyone else?

All im saying once in a while a kid leaves after 8th grade and enrolls at McCort but at the same time some kid after 8th grade from a catholc school enrolls at Richland or Westmont. It happens both ways

OMOS High school would be better then a number of schools in the LHAC

They tried that in football recently, and even brought along the superior coaching, but the results do not support your hypothesis.

**Yeah Matty V. and Air Jordan wouldnt pass all over any team in the area, oh and forget about Lowry too! (No,Schrey probably wouldnt help either folks)** Thats without the aide of all the other parochial schools! Thats where this topic of recruiting is rediculous probably near 95% of BM's team is from the gradeschool system!

So whats the next excuse for gettin knocked around by these boys? I love to hear coaches say, "They are just way too superior to compete with." Hardly the case! BM just gets the right guys in the right position. The coaches get the best 11 guys, on the team, on the field. The players sacrifice time for the greater good of the team. Its a winning combination. You'll ALWAYS have parents who think their kids dont get enough playing time but ask the kid and im sure he wont argue with it. The only shame arises that many guys that work their tails off see a limited amount of PT but im 100% positive theyd give that up for a championship. Dont get me wrong though, no one on BM is simply "there for the ride". The reason the starts are prepared is because there is someone under them pushing and fighting for that spot all season long. Watching the "dirty" O/D going against the starting O/D is always a battle.

ND quote during Lou Holtz reign, "Our toughest opponents were usually the ones lining up against us during the week."

Riddle me this, why are we using football examples on a basketball forum??

We should just make "Private vs Public" schools a discussion board so we can fight there and just talk about sports in these ones

OK, riddle me this......When a public school like Westmont has a kid from Ferndale competing in wrestling, they have to assume Ferndale's enrollment numbers when determining what class they wrestle in. So there, by just adding some athletes from one school district, they must count all of the males in that school.

McCort has athletes that live in 7 different school districts.

Please do not insult people's intelligence by arguing that McCort does not have an unfair advantage.

What do you think would happen if little Suzie's mother went to the principal and said, "If my daughter's scholarship doesn't increase, (insert public school name here) is going to get an excellent chemistry student. Keep in mind that little Suzie doesn't play any sports. The answer would be, "Sorry, there isn't any more financial aid available." If Suzie was a great wide receiver, the money would be there.

The funniest thing I heard was that scholarships are given on an "as needed basis." In other words, if they "need" a running back, the money will be there.

So how is the scholarship drive going with JD?

You obviously have no ideas how financial aid is handled and have thus proven to me that I can insult your intelligence. I would actually say if little suzie needed money, she would get it. I had a cousin who played NO sports and got more financial aid to attend mccort then I did. I also had a friend who excelled in 3 sports and had to pay full tuition. McCort has great alumni who want to keep the school progressing in all areas. When someone gives money to the school, they decide who would be eligible to receive it. I can also knowingly say that money is offered to those who would otherwise be unable to attend McCort.

Great people like the Guzi's(spelling) donated millions of dollars to rebuild the theater program at McCort, not buy new football uniforms. They also make financial aid available for a number of students who have parents with combined incomes less than X amount. Without them, my cousin and others would not have been able to afford to attend McCort

Are you insisting that McCort's numbers should include Johnstown, Richland, Westy, and all the others you said? If so, that is great idea. McCort would jump to 5A, become the only 5A team in PA, and therefore be the state champion every year. That would be sweeeet!!!
