Since Dr. Doolittle is done posting on this subject I'll add my $.02. I've hit post reply to this topic several times over the past few days but decided not to because of the foolish posts from people that don't even know Coach Bailey.

First, What Coach did at UPJ was totally wrong and he should (and will) receive punishment for it. There is absolutely no excuse for his gesture. It's not the first time and is won't be the last.

It's about more than winning basketball games. This man has helped hundreds of teenage boys get ready for life over the years. I know because about 35 years ago I was one of these teenage boys. He teaches work ethic, discipline, respect and so many other things that help us get through life. If you never played for Coach you have no idea what I'm talking about. He's one of the most sincere and gracious people I've ever had the pleasure of being around. I could list hundreds..... no maybe thousands of things he's done to help the local community and youth of our area over the years but I would be wasting my time because some moron from Timbucktoo that has never met Coach would come on here and argue it.

Bottom line is, if this world had more people like Coach Bailey teaching our youth we would not have many of the problems we do. Unfortunately, I didn't have any boys to experience what I had the privilage of experiencing.

I don't know Coach Bailey and, after reading about this performance at a game, he should be admonished. However, after the many posts about his many years of "good behavior" and wonderful example, I say forget about his faux pas. If there's anyone out there who hasn't done something stupid, "have at him", otherwise forget it! Sounds like he's done a TREMENDOUS amount of good.

... as I said said, Bailey will coach ANY sport at Tussey until HE decides to retire.

Pathetic. I wasn't there, but lets just say that I've "been there before". Sounds to me that we have a coach acting like a spoiled elementary aged child; fans that act like its their God-given right to taunt; and possibly referees, and other school officials that do nothing about it. I could break this down in a number of ways but lets be honest...nothing good came out of this - a lot of people should be embarrassed. It sounds to me that the man who should have known better (the TM coach)...didn't, and hasn't known better for some time now. The students(who will be students-which doesn't make their actions right) may have said some things that weren't appropriate; and the referees may have lost control of something that sounds to me should have been taken control of years ago.

The long and short of it is that if you came out of this whole thing feeling proud of yourself for acting moronic (whether you're the coach in question, the fans, or the official(s)), then you may have bigger issues to deal with and you may want to reconsider why you're there. Coach, would you do that very same thing to your Mother if she upset you? Fans, same question, would you act that way to your parents; and game officials, would you turn your back on your family if someone acted this way toward them? Don't get me wrong. I've been on all "three" sides of this proverbial coin and it certainly isn't easy to always do whats right; but you're only half the person that you think you are if you can't show a little more class and sportsmanship to the other.

Just listening,

CONGRATULATIONS...You just captured what I believe to be the essence of District 5 and 6 basketball (exclusive of the student-athletes, a few of the top notch coaches, and 1-2 officials with integrity, who I see as the "victims") in two short paragraphs!

Titan, curious as to how this is a District 5 and 6 problem. I mean, Jeannette and North Catholic FOUGHT in the hallways last year after a game.

Oh, make no mistake: there are problems here, too. The difference here is that nobody would get away with what Bailey does on a regular basis, or with some of the shennanigans the officials pull there.

WPIAL, how much of a penalty did Pryor receive for that fight? Shouldn't he have been thrown out of school? Oh, that's right, they made sure to cover for him.

I certainly don't care much for TP, but in this instance, Pryor was the victim in the incident that happened after the North Catholic PIAA game last spring. He did not deserve any penalty. It wasn't a fist fight; it was more like words were exchanged...and they were not very kind words, and they came mostly from TPs opponents.
