Our kids were a bit overconfident(my opinion) and Central put it to them. Matter of fact, Central owned the line of scrimmage for most of the game! Although, if you are gonna beat a rival, I'd rather win like that, they will be bothered by that loss for a long time.... (we stole one). The scary part for everyone else is, as soon as the Tyrone boys realized what was about to happen, they shut off the offense and dictated the rest of the game as far as tempo(minus the one big pass play) Tyrone has the goods, they are a year away age wise, if they get a hold of things now, the next 2-3 years could be scary for d-6.... if not, F-H will win another this year and Tyrone next year. As far as Central goes... they are legit. They will win enough looking at their schedule to make the playoffs, and make for a scary 1st round game for either us or the Rangers. That was a great high school game to witness, as was the last 2. Tyrone needs to shore up some things up front to be able to hang with the Rangers, I look at F-H as the favorite in d-6, we can give them a run, but need some work first.

I thought it was a great game to watch too. I'm glad I went. Every week is must win for the Dragons now. If they only win 5 do you think they will get in :?: Chestnut Ridge from District 5 has a good shot at getting 6 or 7 wins as well.

Forest Hills
Tyrone
Central Cambria
Huntingdon
Penn Cambria
Ligonier Valley
Chestnut Ridge

6-4 would get them in for sure I'd say. That means they beat P-O, Huntingdon, and Indian Valley. If they win 5, there is still a chance perhaps :?

Richland has 4 very winnable games (Somerset, Westmont, BG, Heights) and could finish 5-5 and could squeeze into the playoffs over Central.

Bald Eagle Area (2-3) plays Central still and has a potential of 2 winnable games (Juniata and Penns Valley) to pair with the Central game.

The bonus points are the major factor. Richland is not going to get much at all out of their 5 wins. Central should clear Richland by a decent margin if they go 4-1 the rest of the way.

If Bald Eagle were to beat Central and finish 5-5, they'd get 580 points. If Central won all their other games outside of BEA, they'd earn more than BEA easily, as they have Huntingdon and Indian Valley who currently offer 100 points alone for performance thus far and IV's AAA status.

....ergo Central goes 4-1 in any fashion, they should be in barring an upset win over Central Cambria for Richland.

Just keep in mind, for 2011. FH loses Dudukovich, Meier, McCombie, and not much else. Back is Gdula, Unger, Burkey, Shope, most of the line. Going into next year, I'd say FH has LESS to worry about than going into THIS year.

FH loses Kulka, Ondreick(sp?), and Glacken off the line. Glacken and Ondreick are their 2 best lineman. So they lose most of their Oline. Also lose the best player in the conference that no one is talking about.. 1st year player and senior Chris Gallaghar. Chris is doing a wonderful job playing TE and DE and was a major pick up for the Rangers. Next year they will be losing 3/5 OL, 1/1 TEs, 2/3 in the backfield, and 2/2 starting WR's in McCombie and #4 who I think is Adam Helsol. They do return Unger at RB who is a very good back, so it's more like losing just a fullback; and #5 Shope should prove to be a more than capable wideout in the long run. Not sure if they lost more last year or not.. seems to be about the same (although replacing a 3 year starter at quarterback is always a big deal)

Defensively they will lose Gallaghar and Ondreick off the Dline (2/5), both linebackers in Meier and Dudukovich (2/2), and McCombie in the secondary (1/4).

Something really helping the Rangers this year is Special Teams. George is a great kicker as far as kickoffs making team put together long drives to score, and Gallaghar is a more than capable punter.

Go Rangers!

So who will Central be losing after this season. Do you think any of them will or could go play college ball? And how is Central going to look next season with these players leaving?

Not sure why we are talking about next year already, but...

Forest Hills will be ok next year. Unger will step in, Pinkas and Dell will step in the backfield as well as Defensive LB's/Ends and will do well. Shope will be a year older. The will need the big current sophomore lineman Pavlic and Brydon to mature and step in as well. I think they will have a chance to be decent again.

The scary time period begins the year after that. Forest Hills strength has always been their line. Their 9th grade line may not be able to help next year at all. Overall, the 8th and 9th grade lines scare me, and the current 10th and 11th grade classes don't have a lot of good ones either. For sure depth will be a major issue moving forward.
