This may be a bit petty, but I read Cory Isenberg's writeup on the importance of ST today, and something really jumped out at me.

She talks about the FH kicker, who is having a really good year. Definitely deserving of the praise he's getting, however I haven't seen him kick so I'll take her word for it.

But to say that his "statistics" are better than Amick from Ridge? That's not a correct statement. True, he has one more point than Amick through 7 games, but statistically, Amick is the better kicker so far.

Through 7 games:
George 1 for 2 on field goals - 50%
George 36 of 42 on EP - 86%
Both excellent stats for a high school kicker in AA

Amick 2 for 3 on field goals - 67%
Amick 32 of 33 on EP - 97%
Sure, Amick did miss 2 EP last night, but overall, aren't his statistics better? I believe Amick would rank as the area's leading kicking "statistically", but not in point scoring.

With last nights scores, I'm assuming George was 8 for 8 on EP, and Amick was 6 for 8 on EP. For the season then, that's 44 of 50 for George (88%), 38 of 41 for Amick (93%).

Either way, it sure is nice to have a kicker the caliber of Amick (and I'm sure FH feels the same about George). He has been a difference maker in several games for us. It's not something CR is used to having on a consistent basis.

When you have running backs avg. 10-12 YPC and a QB who throws 8-10 times a game for 3 or 4 TD's, why would a coach have his kicker doing FG's? You gotta stop FH on downs 1 thru 3 before you "worry" whether or not Scott George is going to drill a FG on you.

Who cares what the heck Isenberg says anyway~ For what it is worth, Amick is better. Now you can rest easier. ha

I'm not Amick's dad. Lots of folks on here that know me can attest to that. Just trying to give credit where credit is due. Statistically, he's better.

I have to question both your picks for the area's best kicker...

Austin Crimmins has 27 kickoffs out of which he has 19 touchbacks, where as George and Amick have a combined 97 kickoffs and a total of 10 touchbacks.

Yeah Austin is only 12 for 15 on PATs and 2 of 4 on field goals...his team (Central Cambria) doesn't score a lot and when looking for the area's best kicker, kickoffs is a big stat to look at and shouldn't be over looked.

unfortunately austin it is still is a numbers game and kicking deep doesnt mean better, a kickoff to the 5 yard line could yield a tackle at the 15 yard line which is also a better number

Yes that is true...but when colleges look at stats like that they like when the kickoff is out deep down field, not on like the 15 or 20 yard line like George and im sure Amick seeing he has only 7 touchbacks, Austin has kicked 5 out of the endzone with no wind assistance and most that aren't touchbacks land inside the 5. Kcikoffs are a main stat in a kicker and still shouldnt be overlooked. Him not having as many PATs as them two is made up by the number of touchbacks he has for the number of kickoffs he has.
