Penns Manor QB has a Scout.com page
What's the deal on this kid? Is he a legit prospect or did his mother submit his info to the database?

Scout has TCU, Texas, and Oregon listed as schools hes interested in but says none of them have offered him. Wait a month or so until they start ranking guys in the 2013 class, see how many stars they give him, and go from there. Also, got to imagine its for defense not QB.

Re: Penns Manor QB has a Scout.com page
Hes good but not TCU or Texas good. He really hasn't passed to much over the years, I could see him moving to split end or something like that. I think he could play QB at Juniata maybe Clarion or school like that. He could get more interest from the bigger schools at SE/WR. I have seen some good qb's that fit the same mold as Ferens, Connor Dixon South Park (arm troubles at MSU) who was better then Ferens is now playing WR. R McCavish CC more of a balanced QB played great at Slippery Rock but he could pass. I just can't see him at QB he just hasn't shown that he has a arm and his competition really isn't the best.

Re: Penns Manor QB has a Scout.com page
I would project him at Safety then Wide Reciever. I would grade him around a 70 out of 100. Possibly a 2 star prospect. Good speed and quickness, plays the ball ok, identifies the play ok. I could see Piit or PSU, even Temple Giving him offers. WVU and Virgina looking at him.
Re: Penns Manor QB has a Scout.com page
I just think the adjustment at such a high level PITT or WVU would be to much. Going from playing against Saltsburg to going against Nebraska or Florida St is a big big big big change. I think wr he could move right in practice route running and he would have a chance. I think he is a great athlete but he is a product of the competition he plays against. I just can't see him at QB at the next level, I can see him at a school like Clarion nothing higher then that.

Re: Penns Manor QB has a Scout.com page
I think he's a legit d1 prospect defensively. Ive seen some good ball players pass through d6 and hes right among the top in my opinion..I dont buy into to the classification/player comparisons, he will play up to any competition
Re: Penns Manor QB has a Scout.com page
Sorry kid going from Penns Manor to Pitt or WVU just don't see it. Do you honestly think PSU,Temple, or WVU will send someone to watch him vs purchise line, saltsburg and homer center and get blown away by what they see vs TERRIBLE SINGLE A teams. HOW do you evaluate vs those teams and say here kid heres a scholarship. I just saw him once and he was no where to be found 2010 his soph year vs BC. This year single a around here was down so the only competition was vs Souther Columbia and what did he do. I'm just saying how many kids from the west pac and that other league in this area have went onto div 1 careers in the last 10yrs. A Reed did it both ways and T Koenig was unreal and known for his D and I don't think hes close to those 2.
Re: Penns Manor QB has a Scout.com page
yeah, it is a down year because PM goes to the western final, but I am sure last year was strong year since Carroll went that far. typical attitude.
Re: Penns Manor QB has a Scout.com page
BM lost 4 not one of their best teams in recent years, BA wasn't to strong this year, and BC didn't have a team. Columbia even was a 7-6 team so it wasn't the strongest of years.

Re: Penns Manor QB has a Scout.com page
Well…kmr is obviously WAY smarter than me, but what I do KNOW is, Danny Ferens has started at QB for all 36 PM varsity games played the past three seasons (as a freshman, sophomore and junior) and the record in those three seasons is 31 and 5 (with only 2 regular season losses, 2 others have been in District semi-finals, and 1 in a state semi-final). 2011 record (junior year) 12-2 (includes wins in PM’s first-ever District 6, Class A Championship game (40-14), and first-ever state quarter-final playoff game (41-22)). Can you say “WINNER”?
3-year totals: Rushing, 3,776 yards on 294 carries (12.8 average), with 55 TDs. Passing, 91 completions on 183 attempts for 1,639 yards, with 22 TDs and 11 ints. Receiving, 6 receptions for 157 yards and 2 TDs. 11 punt returns for 183 yards and a TD. 18 punts for an average of 33.7 yards per punt. 97 tackles and 58 assists with 4 sacks and 2 forced fumbles, 6 interceptions and 19 passes defended. Can you say “ATHLETE”?
2011 End of Year Acknowledgements - PA Football News All-State 1st Team Offensive Athlete, PA Sportswriters All-State 1st Team Offensive Specialist, and westernpafootball.net 1st Team Offensive Specialist. Maybe it’s just me, but that MIGHT get some recruiter’s attention. I’m just sayin’.
Let’s see, where are we so far? Proven WINNER, outstanding ATHLETE, and recognized as a terrific football player on a state-wide level. Not bad, I think.
Next, his offense numbers in the most successful playoff run in school history this year (5 games) were: Rushing, 892 yards on 111 carries (8.0 average), with 11 TDs. Passing, 8 of 23 for 105 yards, no TDs and 3 ints. Receiving, 3 receptions for 88 yards and 2 TDs. I realize those are just numbers, but pretty decent numbers for MONEY TIME!
If you want to point to the passing numbers and think you see a major weakness, do so at your own risk. Many of those 8 playoff completions were long yardage conversions to keep drives alive. Also, just so you know, PM won a 7 on 7 passing tournament at St. Francis last summer against teams that included double, triple and quad A teams (all western PA), and finished 4th in another one at Juniata that had teams of all classifications from across the state and also from New York and Maryland, all of this was with Danny Ferens triggering the attack. If you do the math, you’ll see Danny’s only thrown an average of 5 passes per game in his 36 games. He hasn’t thrown more primarily because he makes it so easy for his coaches to call his number on running plays. As a matter of fact, the entire team has made that a very easy call during his three seasons since the rushing totals for the team are 9,966 yards on 1,312 carries (7.6 average per carry, 276.8 per game).
Is the jump from Class A high school to D1 College a big one? Absolutely. But my opinion is that if anyone can do it, this is a young man that can do it successfully. One thing you have to have to do it, and it can’t be coached, is speed. Danny ran in the District finals in the 100 meters as a freshman (an ankle injury kept him out for almost all of last track season). Another “intangible” that can go a long way toward helping to make the transition successfully is toughness. If you didn’t see him hobble back onto the field against Southern Columbia and then run down the field to make another great catch to score PM’s only TD of the night, you missed a perfect example of that.
Bottom line is, if you’re dumping on this young man, you don’t know him, because if you did, you’d be pulling for him to be a success at whatever your mind tells you that means. I KNOW I am. Oh, one last thing, he still has his senior year to play (boy does it feel good to type THAT!).
