Wow. That seems like a steep price to pay for Edwin Jackson.

Gerrit Cole was only worth a few spare parts?

For the most part they got 3 members of their 25 man roster for Cole. Moran, Musgrove, and Felix, recently sent down. 3 for 1 isn't bad. Now we just gave up 2 for 1. We'll see what happens.

When did the Pirates land Edwin Jackson? I missed that in the meantime of them landing Chris Archer.

The Cole trade was meh, the return on Archer is more because he’s under control for three years.

Even with Cole’s lack of controllability, the return has always been underwhelming. Musgrove is good - that’s about it.

I actually really like this trade as well. Archer has top of the rotation stuff. His ERA is a reflection of pitching against the Red Sox and Yankees and before this year the Blue Jays. He also is not a rental. I’m excited to see a rotation headed by him and Taillon. It became obvious that the Pirates did not see Meadows as more than a reserve outfielder behind Dickerson, Marte, and Polanco. Also, Glasnow was never going to be more than an inning eater out of the pen. I also think this is management making a commitment to the young core players. Hopefully, these moves today energize the clubhouse and the fan base and the Bucs make a nice run into the playoffs.

Chris Archer, Edwin Jackson, one in the same?  Let’s hope not.

You think there's even a comparison between Edwin Jackso and Chris Archer? How are they alike?
