Does Joe gotta go?

PSU just lost to NW 17-7. The serious question is has the game past Joe and his staff by. They've been on a gradual slide since Arrington, Brown, and Company left and they lost three games that season.

It hurt to even think it but I think Joe has to step down or the atheletic dept. has to tell to make some serious changes in his staff.

Joe now might be doing Penn State more harm than good. They're 2-8, haven't won a big ten game yet. This is his worst season ever! I think I saw on the game that Penn State hasn't had a season this bad since 1931.

What do you guys think?

Joe should go when he wants to. The playcalling today was terrible. Even though they have a very young team, there is no reason for losing like that to Northwestern. I think he should stay, next year things might turn around because they have alot of people back. Mills looked great last week, came out sharp to start the game this week, than went downhill from there. And will somebody please tell me why Robinson is running back this week.

Its not all the coaches. If Kimble makes the two fieldgoals that he missed (both inside 35 yards) and if Maurice Humphery(mind the spelling) catches that long bomb that hits him in the hands, PSU goes into the half up 20-0. But the way things happen when your down and losing, the ball doesn't always bounce your way.

JoePa should stick around. With the group thats coming up next year, PSU should be back on top of college football(top 10). If the PSU faithfull will remain exactly that and stick through this year, well lets just say there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I think he should stay as long as he feels he is able to. HOWEVER let your coaches do some coaching. When coach Gatner is calling offense and coach Pat gets involved is ok bUT let your asst coaches COACH just like coach Bowden does at FLA st

Here's why I think Joe time is up. Penn State back in the glory days (70's and 80's had talent every year to replace the group that graduates. This hasn't happened in the last ten years. The upper echoleon teams reload every year with a talent loaded group the others if there lucky take there lumps with young kids for a couple of years until they mature and become good ball players and have a good season and then rebuild for 2 or 3 years down the road. Penn State is now one of those rebuild teams.

Joe brought Penn State up to the top after Rip Engle made them respectable. Now Penn State isn't on top and won't be a PERENNIAL POWER again as long as Joe and his staff remain. Look at the top 5 programs in the country they reload every year with talent at every position (OK, Miami, Michigan, FSU, FL), Penn State is just not getting the recruits every year to compete with the top programs.

Finally I bleed blue just like most of you out there. But to whom are you loyal to? PSU or JoePa? Most say that Joe is PSU if that's the case the it might be like the Titanic with Joe as Capt. Smith asleep at the helm. I hate to say it but its time for a change because Joe isn't Penn State football.

Joe is a great coach...one the greatest ever...his team is young..give them time...next year and the following year..they will be up at the top

I personally would love to see Paterno stay. This year's group is very young and will only get better. I see PSU getting much better in the following seasons, but if Joe goes I hope he takes his coaching staff and his son with him and Penn State hires some new blood

Most people feel Joe deserves the opportunity to go under his own terms. I am one of those people.

I would like to see him start to clean house with some of his assistants. They are really doing a terrible job. The only position on the team IMO that is performing anywhere near to potential is CB. The playing calling is terrible, the defense makes no adjustments at half time(something that at one point was a PSU strong point), and special teams no comment necessary on how bad they are. This many weaknesses falls on the assistant coaches. Prime example is how many times this year have you seen third down passes thrown short of the first down marker. That is all on the assistant coaches (QB & receiver's coach).

The biggest area I am disappointed Joe hasn't adapted is his unwillingness to play freshmen. Blue chip recruits today want to go somewhere where they can play immediately for two years and then head to the big bucks of the NFL. They don't want to sit on the bench and wait their turn.

Lastly M. Robinson at tailback shows how desperate the coaching staff has become in more ways than just wins and losses. I can't believe they thought moving him to TB gave them the best opportunity to win. Makes you wonder even more why Scott & Hunt weren't playing more. So much for the lame JoePa explanation it takes a while to learn the position.
