One reason: Temple accepted the deal. They understand the economics behind it, unlike the Department of Economics in Oakland.

Both games at Beaver Stadium, 100,000+

One game in Philly = big $$$ for Temple for it will be their largest draw of the year given the number of PSU Alums in Philly. Actually that crowd will probably equal the crowd for the first four Pitt home games.

Didn't exactly hear the defenders of the Big East knocking Temple when they played them year in year out....

Of course, the rest of the teams in the Big East HAD to play Temple because they were a conference member, just as PSU HAS to play Indiana because THEY are a conference member. And , of course, NO ONE is talking about money here. We are talking about the QUALITY of competition OUTSIDE of conference opponents. You know, OPTIONAL opponents. PSU chose Temple to take the easy way out to obtain another victory. Just like DeChellis said about PSU's basketball scheduling. "We need alot of easy HOME games".

Why would PSU schedule them for 3 out of the next 4 years, with 2 of the 3 games at Beaver Stadium? WHY? For God's sake WHY???? They are a TOKEN I-A team, a I-A team in name only!!!! You mean to tell me that when the NCAA granted a 12th game to everyone starting next season, that is the only team they could find for the next 4 years????
[/quote]

You asked "WHY????". I gave you a plausible explanation.

But again, we're talking about QUALITY of opponents. Not buying victories.

I understand that scheduling out of conference cannon fodder is a new thing to some people (hah), but at least it's IA, and for acceptable reasons.

What was the logic behind Citadel????

I don't know. But Pitt never ever said they would not schedule I-aa opponents, like PSU fans said about their school. Never, ever. Just like the topic said.

5 IAA teams in 10 years, seems a bit like a habit to me.

Hey. Even TAE under another topic said that I-aa football is not that bad. I never said it was, or that it was a sin to play I-aa teams. But you guys are the ones who said it would NEVER, EVER happen in Happy Valley. Again, please check out the title of this topic.
