That is the point I am making it is just more than Pitt or Penn State making the decision to play these games. I am one of the biggest non-conference schedule bashers for Penn State because the money I pay to go see them each week I want to see good football games. I thought there non-conference schedule was crap this year but they proved a lot to me by trying to make it better and scheduling Oregon State. Penn State, Pitt, whoever may want to play the best teams in college football but if no one wants to play them that means nothing. I am willing to sit through a CC and a Temple but more than about 2 games a year like that I am pissed. I just like to see that they are trying to have a competitive schedule and I do see that with ND, Oregon State, Alabama, and Virginia.

No, I am ok with the effort Penn State is making to play a decent OC schedule. Find me 10 out of conference schedule that are hands down better than Penn State's. If USC doesnt want to play Penn State then there is nothing Penn State can do. Just as if Penn State does not want to play Pitt there is nothing Pitt can do. Also, that 117, 118, 119 schedule last year was a preseason poll Penn State does not know what the Pre-Season polls would be years in advance when they schedule these teams. Two of those 3 teams also ended up having pretty decent years.

They don't get more money, but it looks better to be 7-5 than 6-6. That's the way it goes, I guess. I'm happy with Oregon State, though. I don't really get too irritated with PSU's OOC schedule because I know they are gonna play Illinois, Michigan, OSU, WISC, Michigan State, Iowa, etc. I think the Big Ten is a very good conference, and a lot of fun to watch.

One thing about the Big East... don't they play more OOC games than the Big Ten does? So basically Pitt MUST play Iowa or Virginia Tech, or someone else who is "decent".

Because they went to a 12 game schedule and they wanted a guaranteed win. You know why they scheduled them. Everyone does it.

Pitt does have a pretty toough out of conference schedule with loses against Ohio, Furman and Toledo in recent years... This year they play 2 macs, big deal, ND who sucked real bad, and a service academy. Remember we cant count the one and only BCS team on their OOC schedule b/c the big least does not play an 8 game schedule. Also why would u not play at least 1 1-AA per year as it counts towards making you bowl eligible?

Let's review last years Penn State OCC Schedule:

Wait 2 MAC's and ND

Do I see a resemblence here?

You can't have it both way there VMAN, is the MAC a cupcake or not?

I do not want to turn this into Pitt OCC vs. Penn State's, the point I am trying to make its not like Penn State is any worse than anyone else.

Penn State does do a nice job of always having at least one non-conference worth watching. A few years from now they do not and that does not make me happy but lets see if they do what they did this year and try to make it better.
