Not sure if you are right about this one. At FH, the present boy's basketball coach TEACHES at Windber. And for years, the FH head wrestling coach and the girl's softball coach not only DID NOT teach at FH, but neither one had anything to do with the FH district as far as their life's work was concerned. SO I'm sure the same rules apply for football. Now districts might PREFER to have an employee as a coach, but it's not necessarily so. There are some districts, such as Bedford, who have certain rules about their coaches.

Good point. I think it's probably "preferred" at CC.

what about the wrestling coach who tried to take a bite out of crime-he didnt work for the cc school district- all im saying if you had a chance to get a great young coach with a proven track record why not- oh wait maybe its the same as the school board deciding what they want to do instead of listening to the people of the community-i cant teach therefore i coach

Ok, to set the record straight, the wrestling coach said he got "excited" and decided to sink his teeth into a teenage boy's inner-thigh. haha. that guy was a freak. I heard a rumor that he goes door-to-door now, selling extra-sensitive toothpaste. :P

I dunno about the Sponsky situation and the school board's decision not to hire him. All I know is that he submitted an aplication and that it's preferred that a coach at the school teach something... I'm not even going to get into the school board versus community debate. There's supposed to be another school board showdown tonight anyways with pitchforks and tear gas.

But we're really going on a tangent to this post's original topic. Let's bring it back to football projections.

I know that you can definitly teach, work, or even just sit around your house in another school district and coach at any school that wants to hire you. A rule like you suggested bluewhite would just be rediculous. Most of the coaches teach at the school because they can be close to the kids and form a relationship. As for Sponsky when I heard of Tereks leaving, I contacted Craig who said he knew nothing about the job even being open. He told me that he had a good situation where he was and enjoyed being part of BC, both the school and the football program. Carrolls program is also not going down the drain. Take a look back...BC has NEVER had amazing one or two loss 7th, 8th, 9th grade programs. None of that translates into the varsity seasons. They have a good coaching staff over there, I know that some have left, but they are getting back on track. The fact is that kids that used to attend the catholic school arent. Blacklick was good this year, why?, because the student-athletes remained in their public school district. BC was very good, and will be good again. Craig shifted his offense to suit a very talented team, he just stuck with it a little too long. Things will be straighted out and glory days will return to the program. I dont know if anyone on here has been inside the athletic building over there, but the locker rooms have all be redone and they are looking promising to attract some more of those athletes from the Blacklicks of the surrounding area.

CC has apparently made a solid decision with Bussard at the helm (going off last year). However, look at the other coaching moves they made also that year. Bringing in someone to work with the line, the most important position in high school football, making some changes between the freshman coaches and varsity, and getting alittle more creative with the play callings due to alittle rejuvination from a former Johnstown coach. All I am asking is, was it Bussard that made a difference, or moves made, by the coaches already there, to bring in some more help? Also bluewhite about losing the seniors from that CC team...obviously they will miss the presence of Cornetti and Blackwell on defense, and maybe even Petrosky, but I think that more so the other two. Also the QB in McGregor and the size of Caldwell on the other side of the ball. However, teams must move on every year. The height of Taylor was nice, but there are always WR in high school. I have no doubt that the line will do its job, even with the losses. A kicker can be easily replaced. Most kids on a team can kick an extra point, so a kicking game can be rebuilt with little effort. What I am trying to get at is that seniors are ALWAYS missed, but cannot be thought about too much. Teams must let last year go...In my opinion CC has not been hurt the most by the graduating class of 08, McCort was. That just of the upper tier teams, im not too sure how it has effected some of the other teams.

Its a new year, new stars, new looks, so lets enjoy it. Two weeks till scrimages start, and there will be some good ones to watch!

Sorrry bleacherfan but i highly doubt that Rosenberg will have near as good of season that Varga did last year. Varga is a much better athlete, faster and stronger.
