Week 6

Post by Dfense wins games »

Man week 6 already! So far this season, there haven't been any "down" weekends. Sure there werent any upsets last week, but plenty good football being played in Richland and Loretto! This week features Achilles vs Hector(or once was) while Hercules has to take on well Valcheff is one big dude!

BM @ Westmont
Should be a good test for BM's line. BM took care of BC pretty easily, turnovers helped. This is a Saturday afternoon game, its BM-WH, its good football. Probably a good thing WH's head coach doesnt know the recent History, but he's about to find out this week. I'm sure Valcheff and Co will get their yards, but BM will be too much to handle.
BM 42 WH 14

BC @ Johnstown
Should be a quality matchup. Both teams bring different things to the table. Jtown is as fast as ever, while BC comes at you. BC lost to Richland who matched-up well with Jtown. The common opponent that interests me is the WH. Tho Jtown did play in basically a swimming pool, WH was able to come away with a W while BC showed determination. I think BC will be chasing Jtown all night unless they can take care of the line of scrimmage. Not sure who starts for Jtown at line, but they always have some big boys, and so far Green has not impressed. Im taking Johnstown in this, their speed will be too much for BC.
Jtown 21 BC 17

Richland @ Somerset
This one should get ugly early. If Somerset couldnt keep up with Jtown, not sure they can keep up with Richland. If they were playing in the mud, then maybe, but def not on that new surface. Should be a good game and Im sure Somerset will get some yards on the ground, but their offense is just not explosive enough to match that of the Rams.
Richland 45 Som 21

BG @ Bedford **Upset Alert!**
You make think Im nuts, but the parity in the LHAC forces you to come out and play 4 quarters of ball. Bedford is still looking for its first win while BG has suffered only two setbacks from the lhac Creme de la Creme (BM and FH). Let me tell you all the reasons BG should win: scored 50 more points, 3 more wins, Brown averages 100 more passing yards per game than Bedford's Short. Heres why Bedford has a shot, BG is 1-2 when Brown has 25 attempts or more. Forcing BG to pass may be the way Bedford can win this one. BG allows 25 pts/game and Bedford limited FH to 23 points, so its not out of the question! That being said, I think BG should be too much for Bedford but they wont win this one easy..
BG 24 Bed 21

FH @ CC
While most may disagree, I think this game may get ugly (why it is NOT GotW). CC is a good team and they got the Rangers, at home, in "The Pit" and some rain comming through the area. Good combination for UPSET! But thats where the line is drawn. FH is too hot to handle. Their line makes some holes and Mehall delivers. Hes not all, Glessner goes for 180/game with the main WR being Rosenberger (90/game and 4 tds). That being said, both teams come off huge wins over lesser competition, but CC was 1-2 at one point and turned it around. #1 vs #2 Defenses goin head to head but FH is avering almost 2 tds more/game. I think FH will win this one in Ranger fashion.
FH 31 CC 21

**GotW**
CH @ PC **Upset Alert!**
(Newton vs Priester)
PC gave up 28 pts and 239 yards on the GROUND to lowly Bedford. I'm sure Priester is chompin at the bit! This game will be a rush fest (or not, CH-Som didnt) in the rain. I wonder how PC's field will be a factor?? Could be a sloppy game and whoever turns the ball over the least should come out the winner. Although, I dont think Im giving a 3-2 PC team its due, they have played great football all season and wanting to turn things around after the loss to BG. I think CH is ready to turn the corner and PC may be in their way!

CH PC- Will be a nice game newton has been playing very nice and priester has been different this year by changing it up and went to the pass game a litttle. so they, and priester will have them on there toes. newton and his team most likely will do what the do and run run run the old 3 yards and a cloud of dust so. heights will need tio stop that by making every takle. they need to play every down 1 at a time. it will come down to who stops each teams best player if heights stop newton they have it , if PC stops priester and keeps him from running wilded

I dont see Cambria Heights and Penn Cambria being gotw...i see penn cambria easily coming away with the win in this one, sorry.

My opinion of gotw is the FH vs. CC game. Forest Hills coming from their first loss to CC last year in about 12 years was it? Its CCs homecoming on Friday, and the boys are gonna be amped up playing at home. This is a big game, and although FH took the last 12 years, its a new 12 years now. Anything can happen on a Friday night under those lights, remember that.

Upset alert right here, but im not counting on it. Just a hard fought game to the final minute. This will be decided on the ground game, much like many FH CC matchups.

FH 24 CC 21

Forest Hills with a game winning field goal in the final ticking seconds to ruin the Devils night.

gotta agree w/ 'nlions that fh/cc is THEE G O W.....as much as I would like to see a CC victory I think FH is much more diversified on O (an incredible talent in Mehall, good qb, great hs wr in Rosenberger) and good run defense....don't think CC has the versatility on O but will certainly be ready & this will be a hard hitting, hard fought contest throughout: FH should prevail in a close contest...my prediction a 3 - 9 point W.

As noted in a post last eve, I think BM's injuries will really handcuff them again this week (and when you are the cream of the LH, every one gets up 4 you; as BM is like thee game of the year for most all squads in the LH). With that in mind this game is huge for Westy, they will certainly be fired up for the Crushers and play well besides emotionally.....this contest will be much closer than most would think but in the end I'll take E Lowry to be a difference maker again this wk & predict BM by 3 -6!

Vman injuries are part of the game,no one for mccort is lost for the year, so i move to postpone this wine party until after the season.

What wine party? All i read was that he thought injuries could/will play a part in the WH game but still thinks the Crushers will come out on top.

As for the FH-CC game, I really doubt the Devils will be able to compete with the Rangers but heres hopin'!

Bishop McCort vs. Westmont.
Should be an interesting one Saturday afternoon. McCort comes in 5-0 and Westy at 1-4 fighting for their playoff lives.
The trio of RB's for McCort has been unstoppable to this point. Also all 3 will be healthy for the game saturday. Westmont's rush defense hasnt been too good this year either. That doesnt add up well for the Hilltoppers. But Westmont may be able to find some scoring opprutunities. Keklak is a really underrated player in the LHAC. Also Valcheff is the best TE in the confrence and one of the best matchup problems this league has. McCort will be without a starter on offense that is crucial loss. Expect McCort to run the ball a lot saturday and try to test Westmont. Expect Westmont to come back on offense and try some gadgets and tricks with Keklak. Westmont has really dissapointed me to this point. I thought this mightve been the year Westmont and McCort couldve been a great game. But im not expecting McCort domination early like it has been in year's past. Westmont will be ready to go and McCort will have to earn this victory. But by the 4th quarter Westy's D will be trying to chase down Wadley and Lowry and Seidel and will eventually will run out of gas.

I say 42-20 But McCort scores 2 TD's in the 4th to set the final

I refuse to sit here and believe that the McCort Westmont game will be close.

The FH CC game COULD end up close. Depending on how old DonBo calls his plays. It is in usual style for Don to come out against teams like CC BM and other teams to be percieved tough and try to run it down their throats. But sometimes he has the problem of realizing it doesnt work sometimes. If he does this against CC on Friday it will be a very CLOSE game. If they can run have fun chasing Mehall in the open field (probably another 200+ yard day because Bailey will not leave his guard down). If they do stop the run and Bailey DOES switch up his play calls. Have fun chasing down Glessner, Rosenburger, Paulson, and Geyer. So pick your poison
