Re: One Of The Biggest A**holes I've Ever Heard
I know this is beating a dead horse, but they are good every year because they get the best kids from the area schools. Thismakes their competition weaker while maker them better. I doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure why they rremain a powerhouse every year. I'm more impressed with John Hayes at Bellwood and John Franco at Tyrone where they win every year with kids that LIVE in their school district not in someone else's town. They win win dedication and hard work, not with tranfers. Again, no mention of the R****** word, but whatever you call it, I'm not impressed.

McCort fans piss me off just as much as all other fans anymore probably more. You people need to realize that the more stupid stuff you bring up on this site brings more flak and negative attention to McCort. So please, please keep your mouth closed and just let stuff pass. You guys bring this stuff on yourselves, stop being stupid.

Thought one of the selling points for athletes coming to McCort was for religious reasons? Do non-Catholic athletes achieve anything from attending religion classes there?

Not to add to the controversy or anything, but when I was at Conemaugh Township...one of our top tailbacks, Billy Bruce was expelled for bad behavior and drinking. He applied to go to Bishop McCort and school told Bruce's family that the only way they would let him come to their school was if his sister, Julie (who was all county in soccer and all state in track) came to Bishop McCort with him. They accepted...and that KINDA sounds like recruiting to me
I think the reason most people, including myself, get so upset with catholic schools is because 1) they are usually good, so it is generally felt that those schools should have to bump up a class regardless for playoff purposes, and 2) regardless of whether or not those schools do recruit, by those players being on that team, another school in the area could be missing a marquee piece to put together a championship team...so one way or another, it is unfair. (And i know a lot of people will say that kids have grown up in those school systems, etc. so they arent really taking away from other school districts. But a lot of times those top BM, BG, and BC players dont start playing for those school until around 10th or 11th grade...and it is sad for their home districts
Imagine if Andy Byer (basketball) had stayed at McCort instead of returning to conemaugh township for where he scored over 2,000 points...i mean...at BM he could have helped them turn an already good team into a great one....so on the flip side...imagine if Isa Wadley had gone to Johnstown or if Eric Lowry, Dane Domonkos, or Jack Schrey would have gone to school in their respective districts...things would look a lot different

McCort, Carroll and all the other catholic school do recruit. Why try to hide it or fight it, people are just stating the facts. The PIAA should make a new category for catholic schools. Look at basketball, boys and girls are dominated by recruiting catholic schools, which can bring in any player. Football will quickly become that way too. If there was a class -A, McCort would try to drop.
At the beginning of the year in the Tribune Democrat, the paper does the writeups on each team and McCorts said about transfer from ligonier will start here and transfer from westmont there. What do you call that? Please explain, Gates, Lewis and the two this year(just to name a few). (Merrimen & Ligonier Player)? Dont worry Carroll is the same way, but arent landing the studs they once did. Their Blacklick pipeline has seemed to run out, as did McCorts pipeline to richland players.
So Seriously, dont bother with the "We dont recruit spill". It is simply calling it as you see it.

Like I said, where is Gates playing? Texas? USC? Florida? I sure haven't heard his name on TV.
