now your thinking!!!!
But do you read the papers?
the 3 catholic schools broke up into individual organizations away from the diocese because McCort makes the most of the 3 and it wasnt fair to share it all.

Crimson09Crazy: But you still haven't answered what McCort gets in return for giving non-catholics a discount tuition. Attendance??? I thought parent's were beating the door in to have their kids attend BM. And someone just said that non-catholic kids "with good grades" get first crack at any tuition discounts. If it were only for attendance, shouldn't they give discounts to anybody who wants to attend, that is if their idea is just to have more bodies in the school. And your telling me that at BM catholics who are well off get no money for their kids, but poor non-Catholics get alot? Is that fair? Catholics who get NO help, and non-Catholics who do?

Does Ken Salem help oversee which non-Catholics are admitted to BM? Does he have a say-so in who gets enrolled and who doesn't? And now that the Diocese is out of the picture as far as finances are concerned, will he have some say-so in which non-catholics get tuition help?

well speaking from my own personal experiences i went to BG and we had our own seperate alumni association and donors from the other catholic schools. each catholic school has their own money to do what they want with so i can not speak on mccorts behalf but i would imagine it is similar.. i played football at bg last year and i was by no means good in the classroom. i had an 80 percent gpa and was constanly in trouble. but yet i only had to pay 2000 dollars a year because my brother goes to bg as well and we live with only my mother. at bg the money is evenly distributed by whoever needs it the most. basicaly the poorer you are the more you get. the money was not biased by any means. i was brought up catholic but did not attend mass regularly besides at school. from what i know from friends who were non catholic but in a similar situation as i was they recieved jsut as much money as i did if not more. i see no problem in this

I know of a few scholarship funds at McCort which were set up for assistance for needy students in different areas. One is for football and was established when Bobby Schutte died-there is an annual golf fundraiser every year & donations made by his friends & family throughout the year. There are a couple academic scholarships that I know of set up by people before they passed away as part of their will-like a trust fund. Attacks on the Catholic (or any other faith) makes me wonder where crosses are burning around Johnstown. When someone wants to attend McCort, regardless of their faith or motive, they are not discriminated against...plain & simple!

Im pretty sure that whoever said "Catholics with good grades get first dibs" is horribly mistaken. It goes by family income.

To answer Moldo, yes as Principle, Salem gets the right, along with the school board I believe, to decline anyone from comming to the school. He also has the right to remove any students from the school who have shown a history of misconduct. Believe it or not but he actually has kicked kids out who have gone and played for a rival school that same week, vs BM! So dont get any ideas about his loyalty to an educational atmosphere mixed up with extra curricular activities.
