NBC 55-0

Post by life hunts »

I hope the score wasn't run up on the Blue Pirates.

Can anyone attest to any of the details?

In the words of Bobby Knight, "We're not here to *bleep* around this week." Good job by the NBC coaching staff getting the players' confidence back.

Yes, the score was run up. Leaving most first string in well into the game and well past 35 to zip was not very sporting. Williamsburg has a young and struggling program, and embarassing young men to this extent teaches nothing.

Another note: It looked like Williamsburg started substituting second string before NBC thought to do so.

That is a tough line to decide as a coach in terms of gaining/building confidence for your players and then "calling off the dogs" to prevent humiliation of the opponent.

I think this was NBC's first win so that may have been a factor in terms of the length of time the starters were allowed to play. However, one must always be aware that one day you may be on the receiving side of an old fashioned whipping.

I thought Williamsburg was perhaps turning the corner, but it appears they may be back to square one.

Hunts...

NB was up 35-0 at the half. In the second half, the Panthers took out their starters early in the fourth quarter. Albright busted a long one early in the fourth. Then late in the fourth the JV scored the final touchdown. NB ran exclusively in the fourth and allowed sophomore quarterback Logan Fluke to take reps with the varsity for a series late in the third and early in the fourth. Time went quickly in the second half as the clock was rolling.

Williamsburg didn't sub any earlier than NB...they didn't have a lot of numbers and had some guys get hurt and supposedly had two quit at the half.

Did Albright have more than 20 carries? Nope---17
Zimmerman? Nope---8
Pass attempts for Risbon? ---8

Three JV guys each had 2 carries on their offensive drive...again the clock ran and Williamsburg got two first downs in the fourth to keep the clock moving on their side of things... They may have had more carries, but Matt Sollenberger took a fullback dive 16 yards for a late touchdown. Honestly, there were just holes with guys running through them all night.

Look at the stats and you will see 12 tackles by JV players. They didn't sub as an entire unit right away, it was a one or two at a time type of deal and all these guys had their tackles in the fourth as well as the 6 offensive plays that were run. They would have entered even sooner had Albright's last planned carry not gone 55 yards on the first play of the 4th. The offensive starters did not play after that play...

I think that shows you more. The starters played one play in the fourth, as the JV guys were being prepped and they scored on the one play they ran.

This young and struggling team was leading CK in the fourth.

They also beat S. Huntingdon.

They should of had their starters out after the first half. Yes they were 0-3, but thats a bad thing to do to a team that is not good at all. The Berlin Shade game 2 weeks ago we had our starters out before the 1st half was even over and they were up by 28. Oh well, they will get what they deserve when they play MU.

Why would they get the boot? They have a horrible team.

They may be a horrible team, but past experance has shown that if you beat up on a team half your size consistenly, (atleast in the great ICC) you will soon get the boot.
