I'm pretty sure you'll see Bob Oshaben as the starter at 285 this year. Zac Brydon is a very good wrestler that has pushed Duplin in past matches, and will be very valuable to the future success of the FH team.

I'm sure you meant "pushed" as really giving someone a battle. More often than not, in 285, "pushed" means just that, two small sumo's literally pushing each other around for 3 periods, with one winning in OT with "rideout". That's not wrestling.

That's exactly what I meant by "pushed" (gave him a great match). Although it happens alot, it isn't fair to throw all Heavies into the "fat, slow-dance category". I've seen Heavyweights in the past that would outwork 119 pounders. That's alot of beef to be tossin' around.

Fredman,

Anytime you want to put your old shoes on and test your theory about sumo, fat hwt's head on out to Richland and wrestle the 10th grader or go to westy to wrestle their 10th grader. Be sure to call off work for the next week, because I would put some money down they would both work you badly. I love people getting on here and talking smack on HS kids.

Stop out, hero

Look, girls, all I said was....."more often than not".....isn't that a higher percentage? That could be 51 % to 49 %. That's pretty close, but it's still..."more often than not"....I said nothing about a bunch of how did -YOU- say, "fat hwt's"? If anyone owes the 285 class an apology, I guess it would be you. You couldn't cut it as a sumo any more than I could. If you want to refer to a sumo as a fat hwt, so be it. They are still athletes. So are all the kids in 285. I'm just sayin' don't expect to see the same kind of action as you would at a lighter weight.

Thats better and a sure change of attitude. This area is packed with very talented hwt's, which will soon be state ranked. A hwt match and 119 match is completely different, but to make comparisions to sumo wrestling is uncalled for and ridiculous. I hope in the near future or even this post season Rizzo, Duplin, Morris and possibly Brydon all medaling at Hershey.

I don't remember too much dancin' around from Carlton Haselrig, Josh Baker, Jon Petrunak, Terry Tate, etc. I don't think Kerry McCoy ever "waltzed" around on the mat. I've been on the mat with Bob Oshaben and John Rizzo both and they were there to work. PERIOD. There are some Heavies that prefer to slow things down, but you could say that about every single weightclass. Brydon is gonna be nothing but successful in his career.

Never said he wouldn't. I hope he has a great career at FH, I just don't see it happening this year. I also agree with all the names you mentioned, and I could name just as many other studs. Again, all I said was "more often than not". That's a whole lot different than 2 guys like Haselrig, Tate, etc., going at it each and every match. Those guys were exceptional. Until you get to regionals, and the semi's and finals of dist's. That's all I'm sayin'. Admit it. "more often than not". btw- my wording may have softened, but what you referred to as my 'attitude' hasn't. You have your opinions, I have mine. What a wonderful world it could be.

I have nothing against you, Manfred (or anyone else on here, for that matter). I'm just stating my opinions that it is not fair to put all Heavyweights into the same category. You may be right in your assessment of the Heavyweights that you've seen wrestle. Some matches do go that way and others do not. It doesn't make it any more or less of an effort. I understand you (Manfred) weren't talking about all heavyweights, but rather the majority. That could possibly be 51%. You are correct. I have personally seen the work that these upperweights have put in and I really expect to have some locals bringing home hardware from Hershey. I have the same opinion that you do. I think Bob Oshaben will be the 285 pound starter and Brydon is a great workout partner who will continue to work towards that starting role. It is a great scenario for Bob, because he will not be able to rest with Brydon breathing down his neck and Brydon really had nobody to work with at the Junior High level. He will continue to improve.

Absolutely correct about those two's work ethic. And, since you at least partially agree with me now, I'm satisfied , since you in all likelihood know a lot more about the program than I, the occasional fan, do. Forgive my future lapses of knowledge on the subject. I just know what I see and what I would like to see happen. Merry Christmas! This is not sarcasm. I meant it.
