Reasons Why Johnstown lost.

Post by Crimson09Crazy »

I attended the game and I saw a team that wasn't overly impressive in York Suburban, but yet Johnstown managed to lose to them. Here's why.

1. What is Johnstown's starting PG doing in Florida? Seriously leaving the state playoffs for a cheerleading competition?

2. Why doesn't Cliff Eddins start? More importantly why is he not starting the 3rd quarter? in the first 4 minutes of the 2nd half there was absolutely no doubt York Suburban was going to win. Johnstown had no other scoring option but him. The run started because he was on the bench and Johnstown didn't have a PG and their offense looked like a mess because of it. Agurs ran the point but the past two season he was a beast in the post, I think he's more effective there.

3. What kind of press does Johnstown run? countless times I saw the Johnstown players leaving people deep and not paying attention and not knowing where to be. Hasselrig and Williams were lost on D last night and looked like sophomores for the first time all season. The only rason why the pressure worked at all was the relentless effort by Eddins and Agurs. Outside of those 2, it was a very poor effort.

This just shows what a down year is for LHAC and D6 in general. Johnstown romped through both of those and lost to a York Suburban team who had no real star just a team that was well coached and played well together. Id be concerned to see what would have happened if Johnstown would have had to play a good team like Chartiers Valley and Hampton.

Johnstown has a good nucleus with Hasselrig Williams Watson and Eddins if he is still eligile? They are athetic and were better then everyone from around here, but I think there are some teams next season in the LHAC that will be just fine and will make the conference more competitive.

You will see Johnstown take a steady decline or just stay the same as basketball players. I watched a team that could not attack a simple man to man or a zone.

All points came from transition or foul shots. Sorry to say that is not teaching kids to be better basketball players. So what happens when you play a team that you can't press you lose. It showed how bad the LHAC is this year and how really mediocre Johnstown was this year, it just didn't show until now.

Well maybe it did they did lose to Altoona

what kind of loser leaves his team to go to a cheerleader competion in florida before a state playoff game? the only thing that comes to mind is maybe they were ineligible to play in the first place. regardless, if the player was eligible and did this, he wouldn't be playing on my team anymore.

How about a high school kid that has to do what his parents tell him to do which in this case was go with the family to Florida.

More important than missing a basketball game though is missing school to go on a family vacation to Florida.

1) Watson was not in Florida for a cheerleading competition, it was a family vacation that was planned and paid for several months in advance.

2) For anyone to get on here and say that maybe he was ineligible is ridiculous seeing that he is among the top of his class in academics.

3) For you to say that these Johnstown kids will decline or stay the same as basketball players is one of the dumbest post on bleachercoaches. 7 kids on the team play A.A.U this year and will face some of the toughest competition on the East coast and that will surely get them better.

I sat next to the girlfriends mother at the game on friday and yes it was a cheerleading competition. I understand that his family did pay 700 dollars a couple weeks in advance for him to go. It was not a family vacation. That being said it wouldn't have made a difference if he was there or not, Johnstown can only score by stealing the ball and scoring in transition and York Surb handled the pressure.
