ICC Week 9
ICC Week 9
6-0 again last week and 40-8 on the year. I even called that Everett would beat Williamsburg by 1 in OT
Claysburg @ Everett
Everett got in the win column last week with a one point win in double overtime over Williamsburg. Rush had over 100 yards rushing, so I'm assuming the Warriors just pounded him up the middle at them. Claysburg kept it much closer with Glendale than I expected. They were down 24-12 at the end of three quarters so they must have played an ok game. I think Everett gets their second win of the year on senior night behind a power running game. I also think Brallier will have a nice end to his career and will play well. This should be another exciting week in Everett.
Everett 20
Claysburg 18
West Branch @ Northern Bedford
Northern Bedford looks to finished undefeated on senior night as West Branch comes to town. The Warriors have some speed at running back in Slippey and a quarterback who likes to move around and is a good athlete (Corl). Their defense has been pretty good at times this year and then in other games, West Branch got pounded. I'd look for Northern to roll into the playoffs as they remain undefeated. The question is can Albright handle 30+ carries a game yet again? Will he have to :?:
Northern Bedford 37
West Branch 7
Mount Union @ Bellwood
Mount Union must have played well against NBC last week since they held them to their lowest point total of the year, 21. The return of Kai House has to have improved their defense. The problem for the Trojans is that they are heading to Bellwood. Taylor and the rest of his Blue Devil buddies win their 8th straight with ease.
Bellwood 42
Mount Union 6
Southern Huntingdon @ Moshannon Valley
This game is a big game for playoff purposes. Southern has not been good the last couple of weeks at all. I didn't think that Tussey would put it to them like they did. Moshannon Valley is going the other way and I think it continues. Southern runs wild on Rockets will be the headline on Saturday morning.
Moshannon Valley 28
Southern Huntingdon 13
Juniata Valley @ Williamsburg
Juniata Valley could come out sluggish after their emotional game at Bellwood. They had been waiting for that one all year long, so will they be able to come out with some fire or will they be sluggish? Williamsburg still has West Branch in week 10, so they'll get another shot at a win.
JV 32
Williamsburg 8
Game of the Week: Glendale @ Tussey Mountain
A track meet on turf- That is what I expect this week. If you like defense stay out of Saxton! Who can outlast the other and make the fewest mistakes? A Titan win puts them at the 4 seed in the district playoffs and gets them a home game. I didn't have a bunch of confidence in them, but they really, really put it to Southern Huntingdon last weekend. Starr and Coy have been outstanding all year and I think they'll continue to play well this week. Glendale has Jenny, Braniff, Stackhouse, and Cree. Can the Titans stop all these guys? Tussey will be sky high for this one, Glendale has a long bus ride, and there is a lot on the line in this one. Things should be in Tussey's favor this week, but I just can't see them stopping the Vikings offense.

Re: ICC Week 9
Just noticed today that NBC's Preston Albright has already rushed the ball 225 times this year!!!!! I guess he is the only one that can run the ball? I feel bad for the kid. He has to be worn down already.
Re: ICC Week 9
Preston does get a lot of carries, but he doesn't play defense so that helps to lighten the load. Teams have loaded up the box to stop Albright but Fluke has shown great decision making skills and has been able to burn teams that put 8 or 9 in the box.

Re: ICC Week 9
bbsocceralumni, you neednt feel bad for the "kid" , as s cube stated, he doesnt play defense. We use a "power" running game at NBC which leads to quite a few carries. Berlin used it last year when Sayler had 233 carries, remember? He also had 71 pass attempts...that means over 300 touches...NBC as a team has 383 rushes on the year, that means someone else has rushed it 158 times, so yes i guess others can rush the ball too? Preston is an 18 year old senior this year, this isnt a lingerie league, he is running stronger and with more intensity every week, i can 100% guarantee he is not getting worn down...He and the rest of his teammates are shooting for NBC's first undefeated regular season since 1975, thats 35 years, if youre not gonna say something supportive of them why say anything at all? Why is it that when NBC's name comes up on here you seem to think you know all? Seems like you should do extra homework before you make statements.....bbsocceralumni wrote:Just noticed today that NBC's Preston Albright has already rushed the ball 225 times this year!!!!! Re: ICC Week 9
I'm really hoping there are no upsets in D5 A in the playoff. I would love to see NB go up against Berlin for the championship. bbsocceralum has been down on NB, and overrating Berlin all season. Although the ICC has been slightly weaker than the WestPac in the past, this is not a basis for comparing the two best teams in D5 this season. From what I've seen, the talent difference between NB and Berlin is minimal, and should produce a great D5 A championship matchup if the two teams can keep it together until the district championship.
That being said...NB fans and alum are notoriously touchy and don't take critisicm well. I'm pretty sure everyone who has made a negative remark about the Panthers this season has been jumped by an NB supporter...including me when I mistakenly predicted NB would overlook Tussey earlier in the season. I was wrong then. This NB team is very talented, and not only because of Albright.

Re: ICC Week 9
First off I haven't been down on NBC. It is just hard to say a team is legit when they play pud teams in the ICC South. Then ICC teams come into the D5 playoffs and get beat every year. It is just the facts man, relax. I have overrated Berlin? Really? 8-0 is really overrated and averaging 40 points in the first half this year must be too?dragonfootball2001 wrote:I'm really hoping there are no upsets in D5 A in the playoff. Re: ICC Week 9
Berlin used a power rushing game last year? Wait, what? Sayler was overworked last season we all know that. Sorry I touched a soft spot there. 30 atts a game is a scary number to me, sorry. He is going to have 250 before the playoffs even start. I'm going to NBC's opener in the playoffs and I will give my opinion on them then. If NBC wins D5, then I'll give credit where it is due. Congrats on the 9-0.#1_plumber_coach wrote:bbsocceralumni, you neednt feel bad for the "kid" , as s cube stated, he doesnt play defense. Re: ICC Week 9
Berlin is 8-0 and scoring 40+ points per game against teams with a combined record of 23-41. Ferndale and Conemaugh Valley are both 0-8, and Shade is 2-6, picking up their two big wins over...FERNDALE and CONEMAUGH VALLEY. Shade also dropped a game to the always tough Saltsburg earlier this season. Northern Bedford's schedule isn't much tougher...their opponents have been a combined 23-40 this season, but the way you talk about the weak ICC South schedule, one would believe that Berlin faces a much tougher slate during the regular season. In fact...7 of the 23 opponent wins for Berlin this season are from one team, Chestnut Ridge.
My point was that for all of your homer posts about the great Mountaineers...the difference between these two teams is minimal. Neither have played tough schedules, although I would give NBC the nod...Moshannon Valley, Glendale, Tussey Mountain, Southern Huntingdon, and a healthier Mt Union team are better teams this year than Myersdale, Rockwood, Blacklick Valley, and North Star. Chestnut Ridge would be the one team Berlin can outright say is a better opponent than those on the NB schedule.
As you can tell, I'm not an alum of either school. I'm also not the first to mention that your biased posts are probably not a great basis for comparison between the top teams in D5 A.

Re: ICC Week 9
Just saw an article that said if Mo Valley does not win, they will not be entering the playoffs. If Southern does not win, it didn't say what they would chose to do. So, really you have a first round type of playoff game this week in Houtzdale.
