Quaker Valley last year in PIAA made it to West Final, Apollo-Ridge this year in WPIAL, Brentwood didnt beat any teams with a bye so cant really say it helped them, everyone they played and beat in the WPIAL played a play-in.

Conemaugh got a real tough game ahead with West Middlesex but they could at least match Quaker Valley's success last year with a win. Gotta stay all over Dogan or get him in foul trouble. I'll be rooting for CT, I think West Middlesex is the only team in the West bracket that can hang with BF and beat them. Pay no attention to the early game between BF-WM(BF won by 10), those early games dont mean much to me, both schools were coming right out of football season. I dont even start coming out to games until after the new year. Aliquippa and Clarion's hoops teams were both hurt by football, Clarion was able to rebound, Quip never really did, they did play BF tough in the final game of the regular season but they ended up with the #20 seed in the playoffs and lost to Jeannette after winning their play-in.

PIAA website has been down since 11pm last night.
wrong? if you cant see that a team that was the number one seed in d5 played 2 games to win d5 and has to play a playin game instead of westinghouse who won no playoffs and should have played the lowest seeded d6 or d7 team to get in. d5 only has one seed for 8 teams and d6 has 4 for 20 and d7 7 for like 40 so westinghouse should have played either 6-4 or 7-7 and with your logic then the ct girls should have lost the d5 finals to play the weaker bracket that sf got and won the other night. right is right and imo westinghouse should have played a lower seeded team to playin not the d5 champs. you cant just say its a weak year and it worked out or it gave them mojo there is a reason they were 23-3 at the end of the reg season and i agree with your beginning of the year logic as ct lost 2 of the first 4 one being to nbc which they later came back in the finals to beat by like 40. i think its only fair that d5 #1 get in automatically into 32 field no matter who it is, if d5 had a 2 seed and they played them i am ok but for a #1 to win through playoffs and then have to play again just to get in isnt right. next year it may be a loaded top to bottom d7 and your logic will have no bearing, yes it worked out this year, yes the bracket is the weakest when it started but my point was and is d5 #1 shouldnt have had to play a playin game thats all.

The made you play in the play-in but they gave CT a love shot putting them in the 3rd quadrant, no disrespect but if you are in any other quadrant without a play-in, CT would of been done playing on Saturday. Westinghouse, Brentwood, and North Cambria, thats an easier route than #1 Beaver Falls got.

If district 5 got an easy draw like some are claiming on here. It is about time they get an easy draw in something. In football they draw Clairton first round every year. Quite frankly alot of the district 6 people didn't give CT or Shade the respect that they deserved in the playoffs. Many look down their nose at district 5,and thats sad. District 5 has its share of quality teams in all sports, just not with the frequency as some of the bigger districts and that is just a simple math equation.

Everyone is good at this stage of the game. #31 runs the tempo of the game for west middles sex. McCort was doing a good job of limiting him until the guy they had defending him went down. The kid reminds me of Paul Byer, but I haven't seen him shoot outside much. Their 2 guards #4 and # 5 can shoot the 3. They like to pressure the ball a good bit coming down the court. If ct carries the momentum that they have into and through this game, it will be tight through the end. Ct has played against quick/fast (Westinghouse), big strong (northern Bedford)' and a combo of athletes and role players in NC and Brentwood. It's about confidence, controlling the ball, playing your game and a little luck from here out. Go d5! Now you represent yourself, your team, your school, your community, your league and d5. Show the rest of the state what you're made of. Turn the doubters into believers!

West Middlesex has a good Forward too but he barely did anything agains McCort. Foul trouble, and Barbin was able to bang with him pretty good. Trexler threw a few of his shots, but up until last night he was having a big postseason. So as a Township guy watching film, Staurch is a big part of what they do as well.
