District Five Rankings Week 6 (AA and A)

Post by Crimson's Ghost »

AA

1. Bedford 5-0 Defeated Westmont 54-0 Next up: Bishop McCort Previous: #1

Personally, I think Bedford is the best team in the area in any classification, minus AAAA. The Bisons are a complete team with talent and experience, and they went on the road and thrashed a solid Westmont team last Saturday. They get a reeling Bishop McCort coming to town on Friday, and Bedford should have no trouble moving to 6-0.

2. Chestnut Ridge 3-2 Defeated Philipsburg-Osceola 51-7 Next up: @ Central Previous: #2

Max Shoemaker's team has bounced back nicely after losing to the two Cumberland, Maryland schools. The Lions handled Bald Eagle pretty good last week, but they get a difficult test with a game in Roaring Spring against Central. Chestnut Ridge beat the Dragons last year in a tight one, and another close game could be in store for this season.

1. Berlin-Brothersvalley 5-0 Defeated Windber 42-7 Next up: @ North Star Previous: #1

Berlin has won every game by at least three touchdowns, and it looks like that's how the rest of the regular season will go as long as anything unforeseen doesn't happen. The Mountaineers are just a cut above the rest in the WestPac and District 5 A this season.

2. Conemaugh Township 4-1 Defeated Blacklick Valley 46-6 Next up: @ Shade Previous: #3

Conemaugh Township has handled every test thrown their way since losing to Berlin in week two. The Indians rolled past Blacklick Valley last week, and this is a team that appears to be getting better each week. Austin Myers is already over the 1,000 yard mark for this season, and will look to add to that total at Shade on Friday.

3. Northern Bedford 4-1 Lost to Southern Huntingdon 34-28 Next up: Mount Union Previous: #2

Northern Bedford slides a spot in the rankings after losing to Southern Huntingdon last Friday. The Panthers battled, but came up short in a big ICC showdown. Northern Bedford has another big game with Mount Union coming to Loysburg.

4. Meyersdale 3-2 Lost to Conemaugh Valley 12-6 Next up: @ Windber Previous: #4

Meyersdale's usually explosive offense was bottled up last week and they were held to 12 points. The Red Raiders will look to get back to lighting up the scoreboard on Saturday against Windber.

5. Everett 2-3 Lost to West Branch 17-14 Next up: Bellwood-Antis Previous: #5

Everett's defense kept them in another game, but they could not get enough scoring from their offense. Their defense will really be put to the test with perennial ICC power, Bellwood-Antis coming to town this week.

6. North Star 2-3 Defeated Ferndale 27-6 Next up: Berlin Previous: #7

North Star has rallied from an 0-3 start to pull off two consecutive victories, but it would quite the upset to make in three straight hosting undefeated Berlin on Friday.

7. Shade 1-4 Lost to Portage 41-14 Next up: Conemaugh Township Previous: #6

Shade is having a disappointing season thus far with a 1-4 start. The Panthers will to avoid dropping to 1-5 with a home game against Conemaugh Township.

8. Windber 1-4 Lost to Berlin 42-7 Next up: Meyersdale Previous: #8

I can't remember many Windber seasons starting off 1-4, but that's where we are now. The Ramblers are a proud bunch and will look to make a stand against a good Meyersdale team.

9. Tussey Mountain 0-5 Lost to Williamsburg 27-12 Next up: @ Glendale Previous: #9

Tussey Mountain has not found the winning column yet this season, but they might this weekend. The Titans will take on fellow 0-5 team, Glendale.
