curious question, who does the best coaching in the LHAC?
Bailey always seems to have the most talent, so hard to pick him
i always think that CR has minimal athletes but the seem to play hard every year. Bedford would be maybe in the same category. Shoemaker and Steele staffs do a good job with what they have

Saying that Bailey 'always has the most talent', may be short-changing his impact a little. They are still a 2A public school. I believe they made the district final 2 years in a row with different freshmen QBs. And the QB before that was a converted WR. Yes they have had some good skill guys recently, but you still have to piece together a line and find some people that make tackles. Question is, what are they doing that these other similar-sized public schools aren't?

Richland has certainly seemed to set the bar for consistency in our area on a recent basis. Although, their success hasn't transferred to the state level yet, correct? I could be wrong, I don't follow Richland that closely, but they've not had any deep state playoff runs in football, have they? Something I wonder in regards to Richland is what is the success of their other sports in the fall? They're a 2A school, they only have so many kids to pick from and they operate with boundaries to their district. Can't get kids from VA, FL or 2 hrs away in PA to play for them. Does Richland have a successful boys soccer team? Do they have success in boys cross country? Or, is it just a culture thing that boys in Richland school district play football in the fall. There's nothing wrong with that if that's how it is. The community has bought into football and the HC. I've always been impressed when a school district that's small- 2A or 1A can have success for many years in multiple sports for boys or girls in the same season. I don't think too many public schools can claim success in football and boys soccer at the same time for multiple years. Or, girls soccer and volleyball, etc. That's impressive when that happens because that means there has to be a lot of kids eligible kids playing sports for those programs. Ultimately, that's what HS sports are all about. Getting kids involved. Numbers will typically lead to successful seasons eventually.

Richland ran into Southern Columbia three years in a row in the first round. I don't hold that against their coaching staff for losing to the eventual state champion every season.
