Re: Served/Didn't Serve
You forgot people like Bill Clinton and Mikey Moore who didn't serve, and guys like Bob Dole that did. That was a stupid post foggy, even for you.

He listed Bill Clinton and a ton of others...you call his post stupid? Apparently you have a much higher level of thinking than foghorn. If it was so stupid don't read it.

Re: Served/Didn't Serve
I really don't see how serving in the armed services makes one a better politician than having not served. Kerry tried to base his whole campaign on three purple hearts over the summer, and I was getting rather annoyed with that. Also, if there was a lot of democrat politicians that served, there's likely as many, if not more, republican voting lower class people who are serving their time in the armed services, and I'm sure that most of you on here know at least one or two of them. So really, how does military service better qualify one for a government post, or make a person more patriotic or valuable? It may prove patriotism, but it doesn't mean a person has more than somebody who did not.

Re: Served/Didn't Serve
I figured this would arouse people. It's something someone emailed me -- and I don't buy into its over logic either -- EXCEPT -- isn't it interesting that most of that small powerful group of people advising W on how to rule the world (except for Powell) didn't serve?
I'll suggest this and use LP's favorite rhetorical trick: if the tables were turned, a lot of you would be crucifying a Democratic administration with such little military experience that had sent 1000 soldiers to die.
And that Republican Congress would probably impeach him.

Re: Served/Didn't Serve
Foggy you forgot John McCain a pilot and resident of "the Hanoi Hilton" a notorious POW compound in Vietnam. He and others were humiliated by Kerry's testimony to Congress as he accused them of "razing villages in a manner reminscent of Ghengis (Gingis in the Bostonian Dialect) Khan". But apparently Kerry is a master of all American dialects as asked the question recently "can I get me a huntin lincense here?".
Foggy you also forgot about Bush 41 bomber pilot in WW II.
And you also forgot to list John Kerry and to list the medals he discarde disdainfully.
What about Eisenhower?
If this really mattered 80% of the military should vote according to foggy for Kerry and the commies oops I mean Democrats but the reality is that 80% will vote for Bush.
George McGovern did serve heroically in WW II. The late Steven Ambrose wrote a book about him and its first class reading. Too bad he got screwed politically after that and sadly is remembered as anti-war pinko from the 60's.

Re: Served/Didn't Serve
we wouldn't have wasted our time with such a silly list......
a quick google search on your topic comes up with a few liberal sites that have that exact list. again, it's called desparation mode.

I agree the list is silly except for what it says about the current Masters of the Universe. Just thought I'd throw mit out there.

Re: Served/Didn't Serve
Silly is in the eye of the beholder. Others might consider a list about Kerry's record on guns silly because they believe those bills will never see his desk if he's president. Others believe it's a vital issue.
