Holtz was great at Notre Dame...had alot of good players...the best game I have ever watched was the 1986 game between Notre Dame and USC...that game showed how good of a coach Holtz was...but that is besides the point...I don't see why Notre Dame just doesn't throw down like 4 million a year and get any coach they want...they have the money

Well they could hire fleaflicker for $4500 and save $3,995,500!
Face the facts Notre Dame just doesn't have it anymore. Using superior academics as an excuse is just plain wrong. Plenty of other schools hold their players to as high a standard as ND. I think Purdue and NW are just as prestigious as ND.
Bottom line is that ND has been very mediocre for a long time. Holtz got lucky in 1988 with Rice, Brown, and Ismail.
