DragonFanz:
Northern would LOVE to play Central in baseball. NB has a softball series with Central but can't play the baseball part because Central chooses (Not Northern) to go a different direction with the few non-league dates they have. Northern has historically had two open dates and has tried to fill them with Central as recently as three years ago. Central is not interested. So, Northern generally plays in a tournament to fill those spots and this year will play a little teeny weeny school that they are comfortable with called Hollidaysburg in the first round of the Fiochetta tourney at Vets Field on May 13.

It's all about the level of competion and it always will be. Playing in the ICC/SHL as the biggest AA school in the county, not exactly challenging themselves. NBC is good and has been good for a long time because they refuse to take gimme wins and the challenge themselves at every opportunity possible. Just like FH in wrestling season, they choose to go to a bigger, better, tougher tournament on the same weekend as the TCT.
Level of play and competition always translates into playoff entries and playoff success....

ham,
thanks for your additional examples. i apologize to you for being so critical of the bison. even though they haven't won many league titles, they are competitive in most sports and their coaches and athletes deserve credit for that.

clueless,
I could think of more if I really wanted to rack my brain on the subject. I think even the soccer teams had always given the teams at the top of the LHAC a run for thier money. I just gave some examples of what I knew off the top of my head.
Central on the other hand has been good at baseball, and has always been good at baseball, but not much else...

Re: Sideling Hill Baseball
I would say the teams in the LHAC 2nd division or small school division whatever it is called are really weak.
Teams such as Penn Cambria,Central Cambria,Forest Hills and so on , there is not much talent at all that is probably a little bit weaker than the Sideling Hill League especially the past couple years with McConnellsburg being solid and Forbes and NBC stepping up recently.
The LHAC upper division is stronger but the lower division is really poor.
