Well, I do stats for Berlin, so I can help you out there. We've only played Somerset, Windber, North Star, and CT in the county, but we start playing the rest of the schools this Tuesday.

Yeah, that would be correct. Somerset has yet to earn a win. Last year, they only managed one, which was their first game of the season against my Mountaineers.

Berlin's has been having a really fickle year. They're 2-6 right now, but they've played pretty well, and I'm not just saying that because I do stats for them. They've played pretty well against the teams they've got against so far, but have lost some by very few points. Its that their turnovers have killed them some games, and others they go into shooting slumps that by the end of the game when they get their acts together, they just can't dig themselves out of that hole. They played well against Windber, Portage, and NS in the the final frame, but couldn't pull out wins. Junior Jared McCormick is averaging just over 17 points a game, and sophomore reserve guard Donnie Zeigler is on fire from three point range. The other sophomore guard, Jake Zorn is an excellent passer and is great at his foul shooting. Last year he was the hot hand from outside the arc, but this year seems to be having some difficulty. The other three starters are Bradley Darr and Kyle Courtney (guards) and either Kevin Bittner or Mike Bowman (forwards). If they hunker down in the south section of the WestPAC, they should be able to return to D5 playoffs. If not, I know next year they will be a good team. The JV team is doing really well and for the most part, its the underclassmen making the most noise on the floor during varsity.

New Somerset County D5-A action. Berlin vs. Rockwood.....Rockwood won a close contest. High scorer was Jon Hay (forward). Followed closely by Berlin's Jared McCormick, Kyle Courtney, and Kevin Bittner. Rockwood's point guard, Cody Sanner, is deceiving. He's a pudge of a boy, but he's got quick hands. Not quick much anywhere else, but he's got a heck of a shot from anywhere. Shoots threes with ease and is EXCELLENT at foul shooting. Turnovers hurt both teams, especially Berlin in the first half. They trailed by as many as twenty, but brought it back to within four in the fourth frame. Couldn't get any closer, as guard Jake Zorn left the game with an ankle/foot injury. Four players fouled out total...three Rockets and one Mountaineer. Pretty well matched, but Rockwood was really on from the floor, while Berlin was cold from three point land, where they're usually good. Only five three's on the night for Berlin. Zorn had two before he left, and then Courtney had three in the fourth as he single-handidly brought Berlin back into the game with close to ten straight points.
