Mclouth traded

Post by TheReason »

Nate Mclouth traded to the Braves for what do you know three more prospects... is anyone else losing faith to ever being good again

Incredible. I guess the Pirates annual going out of business sale has started
a bit early. Imagine that some of us had hopes for a winning season.

This might be the final straw that breaks the camel's back in me being a Pirate fan. I don't know how the ownership can spin this one into a positive. Didn't they have him signed for a couple more years at a reasonable price? I just don't understand!!

They had just signed him to a 3 year extension. Their franchise makes me want to puke. Let's let the big franchises pay our payroll while we try to lose and help other teams win. Why didn't they just sell him to the Braves? The big piece to this trade was 4-8 last year with a 6.00+ ERA. If I was a Pirates fan, I would be there tomorrow boycotting that sorry franchise.

Just watched an interview with Neil Huntington and he said several things that are just comical.

Statement 1:
"Its tough for smaller market franchises such as in Florida, Minnesota, Colorado, Oakland, and Arizona. This is the way these franchises have to go about doing these things."

Everyone of those teams have had great success over the last decade. Florida and Arizona both won world series and Colorado made it. Minnesota and Oakland have been a main-stay in the playoffs and have several division titles.

Statement 2:
"We need to solidify ourselves as a franchise with above average or solid players. All three of these players have the potential at being above average major leaguers."

BULL ****!!!
Even if one or two of these players do they will be in traded as soon as they can get a few slices of pizza and a bag of chips for them.

Statement 3:
"Lets not forget that defensively less runs will be allowed with McCutchen in the lineup. We may not be a solid offensively but..."

What the ******* is Huntington smokin'. Nate just won a freakin gold glove but McCutchen is an upgrade defensively. Go ******* yourself Neil, you really expect us to buy this.

Statement 4:

"................"

This is more of a lack of a statement when the host of the show asked him when will we finally expect a competitive product on the field. Once again the gay **** Pirate organization has no answer for this.

Nate was a cornerstone for years to come. He could have been a solid bat, glove, and base stealer for the next 10-12 years in center but that would only be on the other 29 teams in the MLB.

The sad part is that they could have ran an outfield out there with Morgan, McLouth, and McCutchen. That's 3 great defensive outfielders that all have speed and two have pretty good power. Andy LaRoche is a nice third baseman for the future. Ryan Doumit is a good player, whom is on the DL right now. Freddy Sanchez is a steady second baseman that typically always hits over .300. They had the players to help get them to over .500. Instead, they decided to trade away McLouth for next to nothing. It's sad that Major League Baseball even lets this type of thing happen.

First off, .500 should not be a goal. Its a start but seriously do we say going into Steelers or Penguin seasons lets get to .500. They play in the same market as the Pirates so I am so sick of hearing that excuse. I agree though Deliverence .500 was possible this year with the team they had. They were 4 games under .500 and Doumit was hurt most of the way so far and Snell has pitched like a ****.

Second, they claim they needed arms. So they traded their best player for 2 pitching prospects. Did they ever hear of trading a good major leaguer for another good major leaguer? Why is it always A and AA prospects? If it was these prospects they were after then trade prospects for them (not the best player). McCutchen is yet to prove anything as a major leaguer so why not trade McCutchen and Walker for these guys?

Third, why did they pull the trigger already? According to Huntington the Braves contacted them about the potential of this trade (like any team calls the Pirates when they need a player). The White Sox are dying for outfielders, why not call around and see what other teams offer.

The Pirates should have demanded Tommy Hanson. He's young, but the ceiling on his talent level is through the roof. When I saw the Pirates traded him to the Braves, I assumed it was McLouth for Hanson. See the major problem with the Buccos is that they trade for players that they have to develop themselves. In case they haven't realized, they don't do a very good job of that.

This is the first time, in all the terrible moves they have made, that I have heard so many fans screaming bloody murder. TAE Sr. was furious last night, you guys are up in arms, everyone back home seems to be very irritated by this. Hopefully you guys will all start following another team and STOP PAYING ATTENTION to the Pirates!!! Its the only way a fan can show displeasure. Stop buying jerseys, stop watching games on TV, stop GOING to games.
