Tussey Mountain

Post by bbsocceralumni »

What has happened to these guys? Did they lose key players or are they having a mental breakdown? Them losing that bad to S. Huntington surprised the heck out of me. Anyone know anything?

The ICC South is just that close this year. Records can all be thrown out the window, all of the teams were competitive and beat each other up all season long. Southern is in the same boat as Northern Bedford is this year, they've been in a lot of their games, but just couldn't come out with the victory. That's just how things go some years.

From what I understand they were missing both of their starting offensive tackles and their leading rusher was sick (altough he did play one way).

Well, that may have been true, but Southern had a starting Guard/ Defensive End who was in the hospital that night, and three or four other guys who had been sick all week. All in all I would have to say that Tussey just got outplayed in the game. I agree with daveandstorm the ICC South has been pretty even this year.

Illness may very well determine a lot of games down the stretch. I know Tussey was missing their center earlier in the year (not sure if that was still the case) but if he was still out that makes it very hard for a small A football program to keep finding lineman. A team with the size of Tussey only has so many kids that even fit the profile to play line let alone have any skills at it. I know Southern and several other schools have the same problems.

I think that sickness will cost someone a playoff game...maybe a big playoff game. I've heard some of the schools around here are missing 5-10 kids at a clip right now.
