Where is all the crying
Where is all the crying
about Bedford having a losing record and being in the playoffs.
A week ago BG took a beating for entering the playoffs with a losing record.
Why is Bedford allowed in?

Re: Where is all the crying
I heard that the school has a policy of a .500 record in all sports before they can enter the playoffs.
Re: Where is all the crying
I heard over the weekend that the Bedford Administrative policy (school board or whoever) is that all sports must have a .500 record to be eligible to participate in the post season. It looks like they are making an exception to the .500 rule.

Re: Where is all the crying
I think it is all a money making racket. District 6 set guidelines that you had to have four wins to enter but apparently they changed that rule and allowed the top 16 point earners for the year to go regardless of records. Now teams like Guilfoyle who are 3-6 can make the playoffs.
This removes all the status of making the playoffs. When you say "Hey we made the football playoffs this year!!" the response you will get back is "Did you have a winning record or losing record????"

Re: Where is all the crying
This can easily be solved, by doing it the way it used to be done D 5/6 AA.

Re: Where is all the crying
The real crime is in D3 single A where they have Camp Hill, or WPIAL AAAA where Baldwin was 2-7, in the playoffs at 2-7. No business being in the playoffs at 3-6, let alone 2-7.
Re: Where is all the crying
Bedford would opt out if possible. District 5 says you play or face consequences. I don't believe there is a policy that says .500 but that has been a practice. There could be exceptions.

Re: Where is all the crying
If Bedford would win then they play district 8 champ? If I read another thread correctly they would actually have a better record then the team they might play.
DISTRICT # 8
Westnghouse Bulldogs (3-6) - BYE

Re: Where is all the crying
What consequences could they possibly face? Teams forfeit alot of the times for different reasons. I don't buy that at all.Bedrock wrote:Bedford would opt out if possible. If the Admin. or school board at Bedford has told others sports in the past they cannot compete in the playoffs due to an insufficient number of wins then why an exception now?
