Bedford's Coaching position

Post by Lefteyelouie »

Just wanted to check and see if anyone has heard of anyone interested or applying for this job. I know there are several current or former coaches from Bedford interested but I haven't heard alot on what interest there is elsewhere. Anyone know anything?

Now that the deadline is past for submitting application does anyone have any names who applied?

I still haven't heard much talk about it. Just rumors. Doesn't seem to have drawn a ton of interest. Bedford won't create a "job" within the school for this position though and we don't pay good coaching salaries. I'm sure that has something to do with it. I know coach Swaim would like another shot at it. Outside of him I've only heard a few names.

Correct I think that everyone heard Swaim and Baker.

I had heard rumors a while back that Sponski and Fetzer were both interested. But I think both have just been rumors.

I have also heard rumors of Kevin Steele Tussey Mtn's head coach being interested.

But I have no inside knowledge of anything other then knowing that Wes Swaim has applied.

When this position came open 2 years ago I believe Mike Smith from Juniata Valley could of been their pick. I heard that when he asked about a teaching position they couldnt promise anything and he did interview but withdrew his name. I am under the impression there is no job at this point with the coaching so I just really don't know how a person could accept the head coaching position and be told will have to wait till May to see if have any teaching openings. I would think Coach Swain or Coach Baker would be a logical choice.

My bad. Just typed the n instead of the m. You are a bedford guy Ham. What do you think could happen with this coaching job? I think Coach Baker proved himself as the Def coordinatoor this past season. But coach Swaim did a great job when he was there also.

Well if the source inside the school sticks to his guns, there is no way Swaim will be the coach again.

I think that Bedford needs to stick with their original plan. They gave Dan Smith the job (after he didn't apply for it) as a grooming process for Baker to take over after the two years that Smith agreed to be a part of. Baker, at that point, was the 'coach-in-waiting' and was planned on taking over after Smith got out of it. If there was as little interest as is being rumored then that should be the way that it is handled.

But, as history has shown, Bedford doesn't tend to do what they originally say when it comes to things like this.
