Witch hunt at WVU
Seriously, is this all they did wrong? Give me a break. Every school is in violation of something if you look deep enough. This stuff is hardly reprehensible.
Among the NCAA's allegations involving West Virginia:
• Between the 2005-06 and 2007-08 seasons, non-coaching staff members monitored and/or conducted skill-development activities with football players at least two days a week in the spring and summer. Exactly what is a skill development activity? You can make a case that playing video games improves hand-eye coordination. Is this an NCAA violation if NON-COACHING STAFF MEMBERS (AKA THE TRAINING STAFF!!!!!) plays Madden with Noel Devine?
• Between the 2005-06 and 2007-08 seasons, non-coaching staff members sometimes analyzed video with football players. What the hell is "sometimes"?
• From 2005-06 to 2007-08, non-coaching staff members sat in on coaches' meetings that they were not allowed to attend. SOUND THE ALARM!!!!!! WE GOT VIET CONG IN THE PERIMETER!!!!!
• From 2007-08 to 2009-10, non-coaching staff members did the above and also provided advice and/or corrections to players pertaining to technique and plays. Coach, don't get upset and ban me, but I am gonna use an expletive. I'll just hide it. ARE YOU EXPLETIVE KIDDING ME? Non-coaching staff members are TRAINERS. Did they show Jock Saunders how to stretch his hamstrings?

You really gotta hand it to ESPN for going a step lower than they usually do, which is really saying something. They touted this list as "MAJOR VIOLATIONS". At first I saw "WVU MAJOR VIOLATIONS" I thought it was gonna be about Major Harris sending some reporter bimbo a picture of his dingy floppin' around.
