John Rizzo
John made an unofficial visit to Penn State for Penn State vs. Northwestern and Joe's 400th win. Did not get a chance to speak with John about his visit or a possible verbal offer from PSU or any BCS school for that matter but it appeared like he had a great time.
Re: John Rizzo
What does an "unofficial visit" entail?

Moldo you have great posts on hear and seem quite well informed about high school football. I am guessing you know what an unofficial is. Google is quite the useful tool as well.

"If 120 actually made it to campus, I would gather that at least 300 received invites."
Thats taken from the little article. So he was one of 300 kids invited. Penn State is going to probably like 9-10 of those 120 in attendance.
I mean people here are making a big deal about Williams and Rizzo being on unofficial visits to Penn State. It really isn't as big of a deal as you think. I mean Shane Rugg had an unofficial visit to Notre Dame, and he ended up at Lehigh. which is really really good football. People really need to stop making these kids out to be sure fire D1 players. If it happens, it happens.

Re: John Rizzo
So does unofficial still "mean a lot of things" or are a lot of people uninformed? I would go with the latter. More people need to do their homework before hyping high school kids up!
Re: John Rizzo
So from what I understand, Rizzo got 3 tickets to attend the PSU/NW game, possibly one for him, his mother and dad. It was like a cattle-call. Did he actually see or talk to any coaches? And was the purpose of the visit for HIM to see the school, or for the school to see him. I'm not pooh-poohing this, just want to now.

Re: John Rizzo
That is the beauty of recruiting its such a cat and mouse game. Read the threads at Pantherlair, scout, or rivals and you will find that a whole industry has spawned over answering those questions. The two star type athletes our area produces do not get anywhere near the attention that 3,4,5 star kids get. I think this is where most people get confused.
Re: John Rizzo
Probably the wrestling coach getting an early leg up.
Rizzo is far more superior on the mat than on the football field.
He will probably wrestle for Pecora at good ole' UPJ.
That way he won't miss out on all the good home cooked meals!
