What Is Wrong With District 5???

Post by say_oww »

Why in the world is District 5 playing their Championship Game on a sloppy Bedford High School field this weekend? The game could and should be played at Somerset on the artificial field turf. There is no justification for this ridiculous decision. For anyone that says it should be a neutral field closer to the higher seed, that is just so twentieth century. :P

District 6 plays all of their games at Mansion Park because the kids deserve to play on a surface that will not dictate the outcome of the game. Don't the District 5 kids deserve the same? Since Somerset joined District 5, there is no longer any reason to not use their facility.

So teams that play power football in the grass and the mud all year should have to play their championship game on astroturf? What's 20th century about not punishing the higher seed with more travel? Bedford is a good central location and every time I have been there for a game the field surface has been in good shape. I mean there are plenty of negatives to an astroturf field too.

Tell that to about half or a third of NFL teams.

Tell that to the WPIAL.

I thought the same thing saw-oww. Should of been in Somerset. Now a football field will decide the outcome of the game. Dumb if you ask me. Hmmmm.....let's just think for one second D5 committee. Have the D5 game in Somerset so the winner will have 2 games in a row on the field. D5 champ would have somewhat of an advantage against D7. Just my opinion :D

lol football is meant to play on real grass, if you want to play on artificial turf go play arena football. Just look at the advantange McCort had the last 2 seasons playing teams that didn't play a single game on turf the whole season. The surface doesn't determine anything the players do and dealing with field and weather conditions is part of the game.

I am by no means a BM fan but they could have played Portage on a beach, the moon's surface or on pogo sticks and it still would have been a whippin'.

Portage: You have more to lose than to gain on a grass field at this time of the year. Who really wants to watch a game where kids have no footing and defense dominates the game. No one! Except defensive coordinators! Once again, the winner is going to play on artificial next week so play it this week too.
